DTD Restaurants...

Hi everybody!! We are taking our 2 year old twins for their first trip in December for 8 nights!! We are planning on having lunch at DTD one day, but can't decide where at. We've been to Rainforest and weren't very impressed. I was thinking T-Rex, but am concerned it might be too loud and scary. Any advice on where to eat at DTD with them?? From the looks of the guidebooks, most restaurants only fare as below average.

My kids enjoyed Earl of Sandwich. They have a good grilled cheese sandwich and a warm peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Wolfgang Puck Express has good pizzas and spaghetti and meatballs. Mine really liked T-Rex, but it is really loud and really might scare 2 year olds.

I think they will love T-rex... Digging area... Great gift shop.... Just sit away from the big T Rex... I have seen lots of little ones in there....

Earl of Sandwich might be possible. They do have great sandwiches. The only thing is we have one here in Tampa, so I was hoping for something Disney specific. We might have to settle for it though.

How about Raglan Road? Would they enjoy watching the dancing (depending on when the first show is, since you are doing lunch)? I know our DD enjoyed Wolfgang Puck Express when she was little (and still does) because we always try to get the table in the kitchen area and the activity was mesmerizing when she was little and educational now that she is 9!

T-rex should be fine If they get scared, take them to the build a dino

These are the two restaurants I would suggest also. Both rank right up there to be honest. WPE in my opinion is one of the best uses of a CS on Disney property

My DD loved the dancers at Raglan Road and the music at Bongos. Bongos is more oriented for adults compared to Raglan, but my daughter loves to dance so she loves music.

The 2 year old I nanny for was afraid of Rain Forest at first but by the end, he was okay. I would think T Rex would have the same effects. There really isn't another place I can think of to eat there unless you just grab a sandwich or something. What if you took them to a resort to dine with characters, like Ohana for breakfast or 1900 Park Fare or Chef Mickey?

Raglan Road is superb as far as dining. It's horrendous as far as entertaining 2 year olds.

Raglan Road is fun, but if you're seated near the dancers at a time they're performing (and if you go and want to see them, be sure to ask to be seated with a good view of them -- some portions of the restaurant are far removed from the action), it will very loud, between the music and the tapping feet! By loud, I mean, "have to scream just to be heard across the 30" table" loud.) Depending on their disposition, your kids will either love the noise and action or be terrified by it.

For myself, as a former parent of two rather loud, fearless toddlers, we tended to seek out places like Raglan Road, because the noise around us drowned out the noise of our kids, meaning their antics weren't disturbing other diners. Also, the food is really delicious.

Our last trip, in October, I had a bangin' migraine and asked to not be seated by the stage They gave us a great table off to the side. Once I ate, I was fine!!! But I saw little ones dancing, it was the best!!!!!

My DD4 was pretty scared at T-Rex. I didn't expect it b/c she's normally the fearless one. It didn't ruin our meal (partly b/c we were seated near an aquarium), but she got very clingy during the meteor showers and touring the restaurant was pretty terrifying for her at times. Personally, I wish we'd gone for Raglan Road, but DH really wanted the dino meal. Some of this boils down to "you know your children best." If you don't think they'll be scared...T-Rex is a pretty neat place to visit. A friend of mine also adores Fulton's (as do her children...5 yr old & 2 yr old twins), but I think it's Ragland Road for our next DTD venture.

Raglan Road is excellent, but it might be way too loud for two year-olds. Portobello and Fulton's are also decent options, but you are kind of crammed in to those spaces, to say the least. If you can get a four-top, you could fit your twins in the empty spots, but I wouldn't count on being very comfortable at anything less than that.

Maybe Wolfgang Puck's Cafe? The downstairs portion of the restaurant? The upstairs dining room would be nice, too, but it's a signature experience. Not sure if you're looking for that sort of thing.

Our twins were 2 1/2 on our last visit in September and they were afraid of the animatronics at RFC but they did enjoy the dancers and music at Raglan Road. We are going back in December and will go back to Raglan Road for dinner and probably Cookes for lunch.

My kid has always liked T-Rex. Ask to be seated in the Ice Age section...it's less intense in there (plus the coolest part of the restaurant, pun intended).

Bongos has good quick service, as does Puck Express. Raglan is my favorite place at DTD outside of Bongos. My kid enjoys the dancers and the bands...but otherwise it's probably rather dull for kids.

My twin boys @ age 3 were scared to death of Rainforest Cafe! I have never been to T-Rex, but I'll bet that's a bit scary too. It just depends on your children and how they respond to those types of things.

Every 30 minutes they do the "apocolyse" scene...and all the dino animate and start growling and screeching.

I hate it...but the kid loves it!
