Weekly meetup forum

Hello all! :) A few of us have been discussing possibly setting up weekly WDW Magic meetups at WDW and I am wondering where to take this next. The idea is that we would basically just have a weekly meetup in one of the parks planned so that whoever happens to be there that week can get together with other WDW Magic users. It's cool to plan big meetups (such as the women's cruise in September), but not everyone can plan around these things. That's why I think it would be more fun to have a weekly meetup so that anyone could go! Kind of like the weekly DVC welcome home Wednesdays. Please let me know what you think!

@vitani88, I think it makes more sense to have a set location. And I don't think it should be somewhere that requires and ADR. I'm thinking somewhere you can grab just a cold drink if you want, or just pop in to say hello and move on, or nosh --on a cupcake or something. If it is a set spot, it should probably be somewhere a little off the beaten path, but easily recognizable. I like the idea of in a park. Can't think of an ideal spot, yet though. I'll work on it.

Of course I like the cupcake idea! ;) Maybe we could do cupcakes one day per month?

Maybe I should start a poll to see what the majority would prefer - a set park but ability to vote on location, alternating set parks with a set location that changes each week but isn't voted on, or one set park and location that never changes. Can we all agree that Saturdays at 1 or 2pm would be a good time? 11am or 4pm were also times that were mentioned. Would one of those be better? Lastly, where should this thread go? Trips planning, trip clubs, or does it need its own section? Maybe within trip planning?
I like Monday at EPCOT or Tuesdays or Wed at MK I've seen a lot of people posting about being at those locations in June. A lot of us have our ADRs and days planned up til October. Those parks show for the most part they are green according to touring plans which a lot of us use.

At MK CHH is never too crowded and over at EPCOT Les Hailles is a spot everybody seems to like

I think resort locations are much father "off the beaten path" and generally quieter. If we kept it in a park (which would probably be more accessible for everyone) we could do something like Writer's Stop or the bakery in France. The only problem is that those places can be really packed during peak seasons. Maybe we should choose outdoor QS locations?

I would think weekends would be better just because (at lease people I know personally) tend to plan their vacations around work and school schedules, so they are usually at WDW over the weekend. DH and I, for example, normally go down on a Thursday so I only miss a day of school for the week, and we're there over the weekend. I do agree with MK or Epcot as a meeting space if we're keeping the location static, though I still think it would be fun to do a different park each week, but that's more up to the locals since they'll be going much more than most of us.

Something like Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar in Italy would work if it were 21+. It's secluded and not as crowded as some other parts of the park and would probably have enough room.

Someone had stated that they would like the locations to be kid-friendly. Are kids allowed at the Wine Cellar with their parents?

I like the idea of a designated park per week. We also do our shorter visits Thursday through Sunday.
Maybe we could do the summer meetings on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays since, I believe, a lot of us stay away from the parks, for short visits, on the weekends during the peak times. Then, we could do September through May on Saturdays. I also think 11 or 4 are better times to meet as far as crowds. However, I would do whatever time the group decides.
DHS seems to have the most places to sit and talk in an outside area. Backlot Express and Studio Catering have large covered outside areas. There are also tons of benches along the streets. And, in general, it's a quieter park.
I'm game for whatever the group decides.

How about Saturdays at DTD The qs places are never over crowded no matter what time of year and the locals avoid the parks on weekends!

How crazy/crowded would it be to meet over by where the jammitors play in Futureworld?

Great for off season but durring the height of summer it might be a little crowded

What if we stuck with large outdoor seating QS areas? If food is desired, it can be purchased. Otherwise everyone could just hang out! Some ideas are Studio Catering at DHS, Flame Tree BBQ or Yak & Yeti QS at DAK, Sunshine Seasons at Epcot (not outside, but large), and... maybe Cosmic Ray's at MK?
