Resort advice

Ok I'd be grateful for a little help here please.
OH and I are currently having a debate on which resort to try next time. We were originally going to book POR as we loved it here last time but we are now considering another mod. At first we were thinking CSR as it was getting great reviews but also seen that its a convention centre so that got us thinking CBR might be better for dd but have been hearing its getting a bit run down.
I know these reviews can sometimes be a bit exaggerated and since its disney, all resorts will be good for kids. so this is where your words of wisdom would be much appreciated. What are your experiences at these resorts? Our dd will be 5 when we return so where would you recommend for us? Try another resort or stick to what we know? Any advice at all would be great thanks!

Thanks for your reply. I'm not so much worried about conventioneers as such. It just seems like a more 'grown up' resort. I was just wondering if it effects the holiday feel or if CBR would suit us more! I know there are a lot of posts regarding which mod resort is best, but I was just looking for some advice regarding your experiences and your opinions on what you think would suit us best based on your time there. Reading posts and reviews can make it hard to make a decision so I thought I'd ask for a bit of help :)

As others have mentioned, if you stayed at POR and liked it I would stay there or POFQ! However if you have little ones and are wanting to try something new than I would consider staying at CBR which has themed rooms, a fun pool and other activities that you children may enjoy! Only set backs to CBR I can think of would be that it is very spread out, Bus transportaion isnt the greatest, and unlike CSR and POR/FQ there isnt much when it comes to dining CBR only has Market Street Food Court and Shutters.

Thanks everyone for your Help. I think we have decided to go back to POR or POFQ and visit the other resorts while we are there. I am still very tempted to go for something different, but i know we will def like it here and its an awful lot of money to go and not be happy with it. If we like the other resorts when we visit, then its just another excuse to go back again :D

For years...POR was my favorite...always stayed there...thought to myself...why chance it. Even though I now stay in the Deluxe resorts...I still miss POR at times...except when I'm at WL

GF is a convention resort? Huh...I never knew!

I stay at the Contemporary and have no issues with conventioneers. In fact, I like them...their quiet, stick to themselves, and make the resort less hectic.

yep..I didn't know that either until I stumbled upon the conference building

Geez...it's a "do it all" resort: you can get hitched, take in a conference session, relax in the spa, listen to the big band...all a stones throw away from the Castle. What a great place!

and it takes like 5 minutes to get to MK! That was the awesome part. But Poly is also a quick ride...and much more fun than GF...

My experience at CBR was wonderful! The buses were slow and the check-in building is separate from the main building w/ the restaurants. We loved the pool! We enjoyed walking over the bridge and greeting the ducks, turtles, and fish daily! There are also many birds hanging about.:) The room was fine for 2 adults and two kids. The grounds are beautiful! Shutters food was OK, but we had great service! All in all, we enjoyed our stay! I would stay there again!:D

agree with this. we were there last month and we really liked it. The rooms were very nice (not run down at all). ONly issue is the quarter mile walk to the food court and big pool.

I've stayed at the Poly and found it fun, too. I also thought that it wasn't as clean as it should be. Plus, there were a lot of people walking around the resort (as I do) making sitting on my balcony kinda odd.

One day I will stay at the GF...that will be a special time...

Although, I like the crisp feeling the Contemp gives me, and walking to/from the MK. Although, the boat to the MK moron the Poly and GF was amazing and by far the quickest transport from resort to park on property.

psssffft..I'd sit on my balcony and wave while sipping wine at 8:00 am...
"Hey...do you stay here? I stay here too!"

...oh, you have a great idea...that's a FUN way to start the day.

I like some more privacy. I like to watch people and not have them look back...(makes me a creeper I guess. Lol)

We've stayed at all three and I like all three so it's hard to pick a favorite. But here are some things to keep in mind, based on how important these things are to you.

If you enjoy the marina, then Coronado Springs might be a dissappointment. We stayed there in 2010, and on this past trip. Both times, the marina was closed. No boats. No bikes. No one working there. Nothing.

At CBR, the check-in/check-out building is totally seperate from the building with the food court, restaraunt, arcade and gift shops, and it was quite a distance from everything else, which we did not care for. And there were only two floors to every building and no elevators. So if you are on the second floor with a stroller, then it may be a bit of a pain.

Overall, I enjoyed them all, but those are a couple things to consider.

My suggestion would be dependent on the age of your children. We also have a 4 yr old. On her first trip we stayed at Poly, more for us, obviously, than her. Our next trip was a spur of the moment, so we stayed at POP Century. She LOVED it!!! She was amazed by all the bigger than life pop culture icons and the Hippy-dippy pool. Our next we strip we stayed at All-Star Movies, and again she loved it even more..we did not. So, this time we are going back to POP. It was very clean and with the extra $$ saved we able to stay 3 extra days. So, my advice is if youre a family of 4 or less and you're children are big on feeling "the Magic" 24/7, ...Give it to them! They are only kids for such a short amount of time. There will be plenty of time for the coneivince and ambiance when the kids are older and not stuck to youre side :) Just my opinion. Before we had kids we stayed at Contemporary, Boarwalk, WL, AK villas, Poly, GF, and Shades of Green with a Military friend. Not sure if it's the "mom" thing, or the "extra money=longer and more frequent trips" thing. But, it works great for us. Besides, who stays in the room all day?

We did consider this as I have stayed at these resorts before and they are great for kids, however we only get offered free dining plan for mod or deluxe resorts here in the uk and for a 14 night stay it works out better for us. We did consider OKW but decided to keep the extra $$, but that's another debate :)
