Help I'm Stressing

My June trip planning was going along swimmingly until today!:) Last night our local teachers voted to authorize a strike for April and if they go on strike I may not be able to go until next year!:( My dh probably can't move this year's vacation so if they go over 5 days we will have to rebook for next year. So do I hope my dh can reschedule for August and go without my favorite adrs or reschedule for next year and have a real blow out of a trip add a few days and book more adrs. Maybe even get over to Universal for 2 days? They have until April 18th to figure the whole thing out so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! At least if I have to reschedule Mine Train Coaster will be open!

I agree. It's ridiculous for the teachers to be striking. It would mess everyone up. I know for my system, there's a way to make up testing later in the summer. My one friend missed the last couple of days our Freshman year of high school and she just came back to make up her finals later. Not like the last few days are ever important...

When I had exams in high school it was either 1) show up and take them, 2) Don't show up and find a time to reschedule (which is one hour each of the exam days. One exam take an entire hour), or 3) Don't show up, can't make them up and fail them. I guess you could take them early, but if you get sick you're kind of out of luck.

That would suck. For Seniors, we get the whole last week to make them up, otherwise you don't come in. You can make them up in July and August if you're an underclassmen. And the last day is make-up exams only. So there's always a way to make them up. The exams are also longer, more like 1 1/2 per exam, and the Spanish exam is given over several days because there's a multiple choice, a speaking section, and a writing section.

This year, I have 7 classes, but 3 have AP exams, so I only have to take four exams. One of them is a chorus exam, another is a Journalism exam, which I know will be really simple (I aced it last year, though my teacher changes the exam by grade level, and I thought the one the Seniors took last year was simple), another is a math exam (which I should probably study for) another is a Health exam. Should be a pretty easy last few weeks of school. AP's are way more important.

Seniors here don't have to take exams for 2nd semester (aside from a few classes like Accounting, which is run through a college technically, Advanced Algebra Topics, etc).

We have a lot of classes that we take with underclassmen, so it's not fair to say that they have to take the exam when we don't. For AP classes, it's exempt unless you're in between grades. Doesn't matter with the grade level. If you have to sit through a three and a half hour test, it's only fair.

We have a lot of elective classes that are multigrade, too, but seniors still get off. :p Underclassmen understand when they get to be a senior. Seniors have so much more to worry about than those exams. There's placement tests, scholarships, and everything with college just gets overwhelming.

AP tests are run through the college (there's one here in the town) I believe. I never took AP classes due to schedule issues and me not wanting to.

It's always interesting to see how schools differ around the country. Where I used to live elementary ran K-5th grade, middle school 6-8th. Where I moved to it was elementary: K-4th and middle 5-8th. Since I've left it's become 4-8th for middle schools due to budget cuts and not being able to afford one of the schools.
