Trip planning over....for now

The good news...I got an awesome oppurtunity that I can't pass up. The bad news...this means no Disney in May. I had to cancel my trip. So sad about it. Any suggestions for getting rid of the Disney blues? Looks like my next chance for a Disney trip will be 2014 now. So far away!

Try not to think about it. We actually had to do this a couple months back, cancel (or postponed) as we like to say our March getaway. It was horrible. What we did instead was filled up at least the weekend we were supposed to be there with activities. This helped with the trying to get my mind off the fact that at that time we were supposed to be_________.

We were lucky to push it back until May though.

I would also suggest try and enjoy the time, the weather...Disney will be there and you will be back before you know it. I find it also helps coming back from a trip if I stay away from certain sites, trip reports etc. I know it doesn't work for everyone but it allows me some decompress time

agreed on all the above posts....we had to do this for a sept 2011 trip. it was postponed until april 2012....as much as we love love LOVE WDW, things back on the homefront always take the number 1 priority. Focus on the opputunity at hand, have a fun summer and just start planning the next trip. If your just postponing until may 2014, thats just one more yr from your cancelled trip. That would mean you can book it again in july or august and make your ADRs around october/november! Its all about the milestones to get to WDW. If it helps, stay off the sites for a month or so, then come back full force. For the week or so in may that you were supposed to go, maybe plan a homestyle disney trip....sometimes i get on you tube, and watch videos of park walkthroughs...entering MK, walking up main st. then through all the lands....of course its not the same but you gotta do what ya gotta do..even watch "wishes" online lol....your next trip will be here before you know it!

You have to have rain to have a rainbow. This just gives you more time save up more money to splurge on awesome dinners and thing s you normally wouldn't or couldn't do. More time to research which ADR you want to make. I play subsonic radio every chance I get and watch you tube of Disney ,maybe a wdw vaca video in the meantime. It's hard ,but it makes you appreciate when you're there all the more.

Thanks guys. It's been sad cancelling all of our reservations and ending our daily countdown and weekly Disney movie ritual. I had to redo his Easter Basket since I had put some fun Disney things in the original. I know they will just make him sad now. I'll save them for Christmas and make a great Disney stocking instead. Planning to make this up next May. I know the kiddo is sad, but trying to think of fun things to do to make up for not being able to take a vacation right now. We have been blessed to be able to go as much as we have, but I have a research oppurtunity that I would be an idiot to pass up. I'll have to depend on you guys for some amazing trip reports to keep me going in the mean time! :)

2014 for me too. I guess I can't complain though..I only had to postpone 1 year. I am considering a two week trip for 2014 now. Extra time!!! :) There is a bright side to everything!
