Goodyear Blimp to be in the skies over Walt Disney World

The blimps fly over my house every time there is a televised football game - we're on the path to/from downtown and the airfield. I can recognize the sound/feel of them passing over, so can step outside to see them. And of course, they are visible if driving near downtown on I-95/I-10 interchange.

Jacksonville?

Some little plane always flies over my house. Sometimes I wave, if I'm put by the pool, and it dips its wings. :)

Never saw a blimp, though! That would be very cool!

A few years ago we learned a good weather lesson from the blimp. We were in Ohio watching a golf tournament and the blimp was there until out of the blue, yes the sky was blue the blimp takes off very, very fast. I don't think it was 15 minutes later and the sky turned dark and the one the storm hit. So if you are ever anywhere and the blimp takes off really fast take cover.

I love seeing the blimps for some reason, haha. I live in Atlantic Beach, and it's not uncommon to see them around the intracoastal. Though I'm usually in the car going over the Atlantic Blvd. bridge when I see them so I don't know the sound/feel of them, haha.

We live about 2 miles from the Goodyear Blimp base in Pompano Beach. We see the blimp almost everyday. I never realized it was so rare until I found out there are only 3 bases in the US. I guess that is why he isn't around this morning.

We all tend to take local things for granted. If I have visitors, and we run out to Target, they're always amazed to see Navy planes taking off/landing right next door.

Sooooo true. I get this when I visit my friends in Colorado Springs. I rave about the mountains and they just look at me oddly.

Then, when they come to visit me in Sarasota, they rave about the beach and I get to look at them oddly.

:D

I love taking my kids out to Cecil when the Navy trainers or Boeing is testing F-18's...Every spring we get treated to an airshow twice a day while Boeing test pilots are practicing their routines for the Paris air show. Really cool to watch.

Also, one of the Met Life blimps was flying around the Middleburg/OP area a couple of weeks ago. Pretty cool to watch and hear...

The P-8's are nowhere near as cool to watch and hear than the P-3's....!!!

That is so true. I lived most of my life on the shores of Lake Champlain, it has always just been a bunch of water to me, but it turns out to be, if I recall, the 6th largest fresh water lake in the U.S. It is surrounded by mountains, is highly historic (War of 1812 vintage). Every summer all of us would pile into our cars and head to the coast of Maine to view the ocean, at the same time people from Maine were headed to Lake Champlain. As the song says...you don't know what you got til it's gone!

We must have been neighbors. I grew up right there. When I moved away, I couldn't believe how much I missed the sound of it coming and going every hour!

I visited over xmas, and I see they are extending the hangar for the new Zeppelin NT. I sure hope it sounds the same because it looks funnier than...well, see for yourself...
