I know it's probably been mentioned but I haven't read every page of this thread, I've always been actually kind of mad that the scene with the 1980 Mens Olympic hockey team celebrating their victory over Russia was removed. To this day I still still get a chill down my spine when I see that.

I say no to Phelps due to the DWI and bong hits. Cycling is not the dirtiest sport out there. There are plenty of juiced up athletes in football and baseball. There is a reason they are not olympic sports anymore. They don't comply to the WADA (World Anti Doping Agency) code. Because they don't, they don't get tested in the same way and therefore cannot be tested the same at the Olympics. I am not defending Lance in any way, but cycling is a beautiful sport. I've been a participant and a spectator here and in Europe. Lance did go too far. However, he did bring it back to the mainstream in this country. There were a lot of people who were inspired to get out and ride and change their lifestyle. The bullying, suits, and threats is still inexcuseable. How about Greg Lemond for the replacement. He won the Tour in '86, gets shot in a hunting accident and almost dies, then comes back with buckshot in him and wins again in '89 and '90. He is the only American to win that race. That is somewhat inspirational no?

The only thing that the "Lance Armstrong" story tells me if you play sports you are not a hero.

Nobody that plays any sport should be worshiped, but I am one of the few that knows this.
Most people think if a team wins something that is more important than say people that actually work.

You know providing things people need to live, services that educate, protect us. This to me are the only heroes.
One firefighter that saves one home or even one cat ..... is more important to me than anybody that plays a sport.

I like this replace the sports "heroes" with the real heroes! First responders, police, military, volunteers, ect..

How about those two female Olympic volleyball champions? I'm too lazy to look up their names, but they would be a good example of American sports personalities. Perhaps Disney could find a clip of them receiving one of their gold medals with some clothes on.

I know that you are joking, and I should have used the term "more proper clothing", but those volleyball outfits leave little to the imagination.

Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings. I've always admired them. Always enjoy some beach volleyball during the Olympics! ;)

Just kidding, great minds think alike? I'm honestly surprised that somebody hadn't mentioned him until this. I came in here to post that.

And I get the stigma with Michael Phelps, but it's weed. Like, come on.

Tiger's crap was between him and his wife. I don't condone what he did, but as others have stated in here, it's not like he used substances to get ahead in the game.
