Hi Folks,Please bear with me,but I think I've got Port Orleans withdrawal symptoms, after ordering the Riverside loop CD music yesterday, today I'am wondering,do any of you have a way of bringing your favourite resort to life when you get home.Maybe if your favourite resort is the Poly,do you have a Hawaiian theme party, with Lapu's & flowers,or if your favourite is WL,your friends dress up as American Indians & cowboys. The reason I ask is am looking to jazz up my first 2013 Disney party in February and going for a Southern theme,A la " Gone with the Wind " How would you go about it.;)

As I mentioned in other posts I served a Liberty Tree Tavern inspired dinner once recreating the meal. We also redecorated my son’s bedroom in the same paint and furnishings schemes as the remodeled Contemporary. As for a GWTW themed party, I would try to recreated the Barbeque at the Wilkes plantation when Scarlett meets Rhett. You could serve BBQ pork and/or bisquet with tradional sides.

I adore the poly's lobby. I have never actually stayed there, but I could live in that lobby. I just redesigned my (tiny) living room and kitchen, and we used a sort of poly/world theme. Plants, wicker furniture, a deep tiger wood for the floor (couldn't afford the flagstone!) I also found a floor lamp that is dark wood, about 4 feet high, and has a circle pattern that looks like hidden mickeys- everyone who is a disney freak sees it and goes.."is that from disney", and those who aren't don't notice.
I wish Disney would make some furniture for those of us who want our house to say Disney subtly. I don't want giant red and white mickeys in my living room, but I love the idea of furniture with subtle hidden mickeys like this lamp! More bedding would be nice, too.. how about adult sheets in a nice subdued hue, with a raised hidden mickey pattern in the weave?

We have a chair from one of the rooms at the Poly that they got rid of after their last big refurb, and one of the hanging wall mirrors. We got them as gifts, haha, so I guess people know us well.

I always thought WDW could make a fortune (not that they need too) selling "smells" of their resorts and Parks - you know like scented candles or air wick type things. Even if they can't mimic the current smell, they could make one, start putting it in the resorts and after a couple years of guest relating that smell to the resort, start selling it.

they did- last year they released a parks room fragrance. can't seem to find it now. disney likes to discontinue everything so fast..

Yeah, this was several years ago now...i would guess they're sold out by now. I think they do occasionally sell off random spare pieces or things they find in storage though.

I like that the resort furniture is not at all overtly Disney. People would never know unless we told them (or if they were fellow Disney nerds with keen eyes!

I love Tara's Theme. Geez, thatis pretty music.

No, I don't try to decorate my house like a hotel. I like to visit themed hotels, especially RPH and PBH, but I like my house more. :)

We just got back a few days ago from our stay at POR. It was a wonderful trip! I spent some time taking close up pics of the art in the royal room with the frames right along the edges. I'll blow them up and hang them in the exact same arrangement in my DD's nursery. The hubs and I totally talked about which rooms in our house we would want to decorate after certain resorts. Not sure we'll go all that far, but it was a fun conversation!
