Hey Folks. Just been looking at the menu for "Trails End" at Fort Wilderness, and I noticed fried chicken on the menu. Now this is where the piano player gets shot down, but me and my DS love, wait for it,KFC. Our nearest one is 50 miles away but we always pop in if we're passing and get the deluxe boneless box,yum.yum.So where at WDW do they serve the best deep fried chicken? Another thing.Maybe am losing it,but is there a KFC inside the world,or is my mind going.o-O

You mind is going. There is not KFC inside WDW.:D If the only fried chicken you have ever had is KFC then the only way to go is up. KFC fried chicken is fair at best.

As near as I can tell all Disney owned restaurants prepare the fried chicken the same way. I have not noticed much difference from one location to another. Personally, I absolutely love the fried chicken at 50's Prime Time.

Ah well, old age doesn't come easy, but thanks for recommending 50's.Will give it a try next trip.P.S. Years ago in Glasgow we had a " Grannies Southern Fried Chicken Shack" and it was really good. Not sure if it was American owned.

I've alway's loved the fried chicken at Hoop dee Doo (which i'm pretty darn sure is the same chicken served at Trails End) but its definitely not like KFC. IMHO the best Disney fried chicken is actually at the Plaza Inn at Disneyland, but that doesn't really help you.

Whit. Chicken salad, way too healthy for me.Boneless wings in hell fire sauce, now that's what am talking about.;)
You have obviously never seen traditional chicken salad. :D The closest thing to a vegetable in it might be onions and celery. Lettuce rarely enters into the equation and the primary ingredient is typically mayonnaise. A cup of the stuff is around 400-500 calories.

I use low cal mayo, but I do love salad in hot weather, alfresco with a chilled glass of wine.I once made a Waldorf salad for a buffet at one of my Disney parties and it went down a storm.:)

For fried chicken, go to Trail's End (on buffet at dinner, on menu served with waffles at lunch), Hoop Dee Doo, or 50's Prime Time. Here is the fried chicken at Trail's End for lunch. There may be a piece missing from the plate. I think is better (less greasy) than KFC, though I do like KFC too.

For those that like chicken salad, try the Waldorf Chicken Salad at Trail's End for lunch. So yummy that I wrote to Guest Services to ask for a recipe, but I didn't get a reply yet.

There is salad with chicken and there is chicken salad. Salad with chicken is greens and other items (tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, etc) with cut up chicken in it. That is (relatively) healthy.

Then there is chicken salad. Cut up chicken with a "dressing" made mainly of mayonnaise. You can add other items, such as celery, bell peppers, parsley, lemon juice, vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, etc, but they are all minor ingredients as compared to the mayo. (I like to add halves red grapes myself). There are a number of "salads" in the US that are made this way. Cole Slaw, Potato Salad, Egg Salad, Carrot and Raisin Salad, The incredibly misnamed "Health Salad", and a number of others.

Now, as for fried chicken - Traditional fried chicken (dredged in flour, fried in a skillet) is quite tasty, but if you can find it, try traditional Korean fried chicken (somtimes called "paper skin chicken"). It is deep fried twice, like a french fry, once at a lower temp to cook it, and then again at higher temps to crisp it. There is no coating, but they sauce it afterwards. It is some of the juciest chicken, with a very thin and crispy skin. Around here there are a few Bon-Chon Chicken places (thats a chain) and there is also a place called "Peck-Peck" that an indeoendent shop. I doubt they will ever have it at WDW on a kiosk because it does not hold well. A order takes 20 minutes to make, so it really is either restaruant food, or something you have to call ahead for.

Ive just been into my loft hunting down a brochure I picked up in Los Angeles in 2001. It was a place called " Roscoes " and we had fried chicken that was so good but not sure if its still going strong,so if anyone out there is from the west coast L.A. is Roscoes still in business ?;)

50's primetime cafe has some pretty good fried chicken, my mother-in-law and sister-in-law raved about the Hoop De Doo chicken but my dear son and I were underwhelmed by it.

I'd agree, it seems they have a single resort wide recipe. I love it at the Hoop De Doo Revue and 50's prime time. I'm quite sure they are both the same. I'd guess Trails End is the same as well.
Now lets talk EPCOT, IMO it's a darn shame there isn't a TS in the American pavilion that has some real home-style fried chicken with biscuits and collard greens!!

IMHO no TS in the American Pavilion was a big mistake. There are so many regional foods in the US that could make an awesome menu.
