My family, the original Chef Mickey's in DTD. It was intimate, cozy with great food. My children were young, they had one on time with Mickey in a calm arena. I miss it.

A few of ours are;
The castmembers at Whispering Canyon making sure my dear wife's birthday was memorable by signing "Happy Birthday" to her then eating her cake. They did bring another.
My son's birthday, breakfast at the old Concourse Steakhouse where the server/castmember got him a "today's my birthday button" and made sure every cast member wished him happy birthday. Later that evening dinner
at the California Grill where after dinner, we had ordered a cake, the castmembers sang happy birthday and a little girl from another table came over and asked for a piece of cake.

Probably my all time fave was at Chef Mickey's for breakfast last summer...

It was DD6's 5th bday...the whole trip was a surprise as were pretty much all of our meals, activities, and even bday attire. I set out their special bday gear after they fell asleep...

We have this silly bday tradition with DD6 to gift her with new shoes on her bday morning since she's a bit of a fashonista. She wanted DD3 to also get shoes, but she was so mad at me b/c I bought the shoes she hated...little did she know I got them as well and were including them in this outfit surprise.

They were thrilled, but I still wouldn't tell them what was in store for the morning. So, we got out bright and early...

(surprisingly awake for pre 7am- which is really pre 6 am for us)

...for their bday surprise destination.

Needless to say they were totally giddy about having breakfast with the big cheese and friends but the surprises didn't stop there. As many of you have seen, I'm trying to make custom cakes at Disney our big tradition. Well, I'd worked with the pastry/cake chef at the Contemporary about 2 weeks prior to travel so that we could have a fabulous cake for breakfast. It was noted on our info when we checked in, but the real magic started when we were seated and started talking to our server. I quietly asked her about the cake while the kids were up at the buffet and she calmly asked which one -as there were several back there. I told her it was the yellow Belle cake and her eyes lit up and she gushed about how beautiful it is and how it's the best one back there. They'd never seen a design like it before and apparently all of the kitchen staff had been taking pics of it. She then promised me to bring it out a little later on in the meal and that was that.

Well, next the chef came out b/c of DD6's allergies. She had seen the bday celebration on our ADR and noted that the cupcakes they bring are safe, but I informed her it's Ok b/c we had a cake coming. And once again- "ooooo- was it a preorder? Which one?" and again- the excitement over having seen our cake and telling me it was absolutely stunning. So, as a person who does cake work on the side- I'm now beyond excited and want to break into the kicthen to see it:p .

After an endless (not really) wait, it finally arrived...

...and clearly she's surprised as well. She'd seen the sketch...she's a big Belle fan, but I lied to her and told her it was for her friend Katie's trip to WDW and I needed her expert Belle advice. Let's just say she was OK with my little lie!

I got to take a few pics of the cake as the candles were being lit...

...and then the MAGICAL happened! I was told that it was just pure luck if a character came by while you were singing Happy Birthday...and from everything I've witnessed...the odds weren't in our favor. Well- Minnie was pulled out of rotation and ultimately napkin waving to come over to us...

..even DD6 was in shock. She stayed for all of the singing of Happy Birthday, gave a big hug and 'kiss" and then went back to where she was supposed to be. We also got another visit from her before leaving. She is DD6's fave of the fab 5...so, this was about as perfect as it could possibly be. We had sooooo many visits from other servers who also wanted to come by, see the cake and wish her happy bday. Seriously- the non-stop bday wishes didn't end until we were out the proverbial door.

I know I can't recreate this...I was going to try for DD3's 4th bday cake next month, but rather than set myself up...we're going to do her cake at Cali Grill and hopefully the cake will be coming out shortly before Holiday Wishes goes off. :)

Sorry for the mini report- ;)

I have 2 memories that really stick out to me!

The first was when I was a little girl and my grandmother paid for us to go to Disney (our only trip when I was young) and she went with us! I remember snuggling with her at the chip n' dale hoe down at camp wilderness. So special!

And my all time favorite memory was when my DS was 2 at the time and still hadn't said his first word (he has autism) and then pointed at the number 2 on a POP Century food court sign and said "two". I had waited so long to hear his little voice speak that I broke down and cried like a baby! It has been all uphill from there on his development. Disney I truly a magical place for us !

kids surprise trip for their birthdays. we had a Mary Poppins cake for them at 1900 Park Fare. A CM with the characters came over and whispered that they heard we had a special cake and was going to have Mary come over to the table when the cake came out. She was great and spent extra time with us. Very nice touch.

Wow tough question. Every park, a few resorts, my 23 yr old son says "Mom, remember when.....???" I have said this before but to this day, every time we go to Chef Mickey's, I see my 3 yr old's first visit to Disney, and every time I hear "Can you feel the love tonight", remember my 6 year old singing to me, at a public restaurant. So many good memories which remind me, how fast time goes.

That will be amazing! I have called and asked very specific questions about safety and accommodations for our upcoming trip and they have been so helpful! He will love it and if you need anything they will completely go out of their way to make sure he has the best trip ever! Make sure you get a GAC pass to keep him healthy and safe! That is going to be one special trip!

There are so many restaurants that make my heart smile when thinking of them:
1. Chefs De France - We started going there 25 years ago when I was dating my later to become French Speaking hubby from France. When he came to the US, coming to that restaurant was his chance to relax in his language. As we went to WDW a few times a year we have become good friends with the manager Big Philippe and have become like family with one of the waiters. We have had gone through marriages, heath scares, family times and had kids at the same time as his daughters. His daughter is now one of my best friends - and our kids are friends too! That restaurant is now like coming home to us and my heart smiles with the love I feel for our one time waiter, now loved as family...
2. Seeing my son be given the total attention of our waiter at 50s Prime Time (not just the standard schmuck but more). He had been so bullied at school that he felt less than worthless and this waiter who sensed a need - gave him a chance to feel really good - seeing his smile and hearing his laughter was irreplaceable !

We always do Chef Mickey's breakfast on our last day (a driving day) because DD4 likes to say bye to her friends one last time! She always comments how Daisy has to stay in the kitchen and cook, but they let Minnie out. My daughter setting the women's movement back a few decades, lol.

Libert tree tavern when they used to do character meals. We were there on Christmas Eve in 2004 and it felt the most lime a home cooked meal. Also my husband and I did hoop dee doo revue last year and it was so much fun. We got to be part of the show twice!

There was this one time when our family of four went to Pinocchio's for lunch on a Saturday in July at straight up noon, and when we had all our food loaded up on a tray, we couldn't find an empty table. So we went outside, but it was too hot. So we came back inside and there was a table open but someone took it before we could walk over. And then a coke tipped over on the tray and spilt onto all the food so we threw it all in the trash and went home. No, just kidding about that last part. We sat the tray on top of the trash can and went home.

No, seriously. . . there have been so many good meals over the years that I can't think of just one. Probably one that stands out most memorably, we were having dinner at Cinderella's Royal Banquet Hall. My son was being a little bit of a pest so the waiter offered to make him a bet. The waiter would ask 3 easy questions and if my son were to correctly answer them and win the bet, the waiter would pay him $100, but if my son lost the bet, he would have to mind his parents and do exactly as they said.

Well, my son is no fool, so he refused the bet.

It was all in good fun, so the waiter asked the 3 questions anyway and we ALL missed all 3 of them. And they WERE easy. I think the first was "How many 9s are there between 1 and 100. We got tripped up counting "99" as 1 instead of 2 9s. I forget the other two.
