After what we got on the 25th I am planning for a full on monsoon which will of course guarantee that it will not rain a drop.:D

I am going to hold you to that guarantee, Master Yoda!!!

We did not stick out the 25th monsoon, left the park in the 8 o'clock hour, I think (I remember trying to watch Otis Day & the Knights from the doorway of the shop in American Adventure)--which is the big reason why I signed us up for the 30th dessert party!!! DH less likely to bail after paying for dessert. ;)

Looking forward to finally seeing a "tag"!!

Well the pyro and fireworks guys are keeping their lips sealed tight. I was park closing last night and asked one of them when no guests were around and he wouldn't even tell me when they are testing the ending of the show. Of course they keep telling Epcot cast members that something is happening for the 30th to celebrate but won't tell us what.

Surprised they would do that on the 1st since the festivities are on the 30th. Why not do both?

(Yes, I will be there but have to leave on the 1st! :( )

So what time is everyone going to get to the parks on the 1st? I really want to get my hands on some of those pins, and I know they will sell out fast. I was thinking of getting there around 5am- is that lunacy or does it sound about right? Will the pins be for sale at the D23 event? If so I can get them then and sleep in a little. ;)

I'm going to guess that it won't be necessary to get there that early, unless they've made most of the pins/merch in extremely limited quantities this time around. I know of people who didn't get to the gates until about half an hour before they opened five years ago, and still ended up getting all the pins they wanted. (Then again, I think the initial rush when the park opened was mostly for the LE Figments and T-shirts, not pins.) The line for Pin Central did get extremely long (at one point it was back at least to the entrance to SSE), but it seemed like most people who got in line within an hour of park opening ended up getting their pins.

And, in any case, I wonder whether there will be less demand for things like pins and other merchandise this time, either because (1) a 30th anniversary is generally considered less special than a 25th anniversary, so there will be fewer dedicated guests at Epcot this time around, or (2) the general interest in pins among guests has waned over the last five years, or (3) both.

I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who might know whether, at this point, there's measurably less interest in the October 1 occasion this time than there was in 2007 (although I'm not sure how something like that could be quantified), or whether interest in pin collecting/trading has substantially diminished in recent years. I'm not a pin trader myself, but just from browsing message boards, etc., it feels like the pin craze isn't nearly what it was in years past.

What festivities are they doing on the 30th?

D23 is doing their festivities that day. However from everything I've been told the D23 event is completely separate from the actual celebration of the 30th and some people at EPCOT still have no clue the D23 event is going on in addition to the official celebration.

We need time for things to happen.

Thanks for the info.
