WDW Haunted House status and question

I'm at the park this week, I rode the haunted mansion twice today. Two things stuck out to me 1) Leota is floating again, she wasn't in June 2012.

2) I'm not sure if I'm going crazy and never picked up on this before.. but in the graveyard room there is a black net/mesh in front of all the characters that creates a distracting layer between you and the AAs. Being my 3rd trip this year... I think this would've jumped out at me before. Its highly noticeable, I dont know if theyr'e doing renovations or if this is to protect the scene from people throwing things? I've never ever seen it before, but its very noticeable now. Also you can see the drape/mesh on the ground and also in front of the opera singer. Anyone else have insight on this?

Thanks

there has always been a mesh there, not sure why exactly but its true.

Edit: I should say as far back as I can remember, because if I say "always" someone will probably mention that 30 years ago there wasn't any ;)

Technically, the wire mesh is designed to produce a fog effect, to create a sense of depth, and to hide the rear walls of the building. Recently it has had light leaks on it, become dirty, and torn in places which help it's visibility.

Good news about Leotta.

We also noticed the mesh on our trip a couple of weeks ago, and we'd never noticed it before, either. I assumed that there was some change in lighting or something that had made it visible. Whatever the case, it's definitely distracting.

I noticed it last year when we were stuck in the graveyard for what seemed like an hour(probably 5 minutes) and my eyes had a chance to adjust and notice things I had never seen before. Didn't someone post in a recent thread that HM seemed brighter inside than in the past?

It has been there since the beginning. Like Martin already said, it used to be much more effective though.

I can barely see a lot of the ghosts in the graveyard. Am I just going blind?

Leota was still floating as of a week ago but the wires holding her up were clearly visible. I also noticed how bad the wire mesh in the graveyard looked. Last Saturday seemed like a really bad day all-around for HM. The queue was a mess after the stretch room with everyone pushing and shoving and no CMs there to direct traffic. The ride also stopped at least 4 times for several minutes each time during the one time we rode it. We're going back tomorrow and hoping things go smoother since it's one of our favorite attractions in all of WDW.

I was also there June 2012 for 10 days and rode HM at least 12 twelve times and Leota was floating everytime. I did notice the mesh you are speaking of and yes, VERY DISTRACTING! And to me, it seems that the ride moves alot faster.

If I've been on it once, I've been on it 100 times and I never noticed this mesh.

I have a lot of recently-developed vision problems, but prior to this I had better vision than anyone else I ever encountered. And I never, ever noticed it, lol.

I will look for it now, but who knows if I'll see it.

We need time for things to happen.
I've always noticed the mesh and always wondered what it was for.
I figured some kind of effect but could never figure out what it was 'affecting' ;)

We were there the last week of June and she wasn't floating, and we went through many times that week.
The ghosts in the graveyard were not popping up either. It was really dark on the left hand side, so we didn't see the mesh. The ride stopped three times during one ride time. At first we thought it was stopped to let someone from a wheelchair board, but then it stopped two more times.
We also stopped two times on Pooh, which we didn't mind, and three times on Splash, which scared me to death.
We got stopped at the Laughing Place for over 30 minutes right under the speaker. One car made it to the top and left, then it stopped again. There was something getting stuck on the upload ramp. then, it was another 20 minutes before it finally started running again. Starting it back up was a long process. They were testing every drop, one by one to get it back online. They would announce everything they were doing that involved something moving. Glad they took their time, but I just wanted to get off. I had seen several youtubes of people being lead off on foot when it was down this long, but they wouldn't let any of us get off. Yes. I did ask. When I saw them working on the ramp and another car getting stuck halfway up, I didn't want to go up that thing. We missed all of the fireworks.
We came by about an hour later, and it was down again.

Wow...why can't stuff like that happen to me? I love that kind of stuff!
