DHS Dining Help - stat!

Well...I made an assumption that Brown Derby was going to be as we remembered it from our Honeymoon so I booked the Fantasmic Package. However, we just looked at the menu and nothing is doing it for us. I make the Cobb Salad at home so that is no longer a big draw.

I am not a huge fan of 50's Prime or Sci Fi. We have never been to Mama's and don't want to go to Hollywood and Vine.

We don't need to eat at a TS. I am hoping that DHS isn't so busy that we can't just get in line ourselves for Fantasmic.

But if we wanted to do Mamas, I'm a bit confused on what the rules are. I have read that it is a prix fix meal - an app, entree, dessert and non alcoholic drinks. But with this prix fix, do you order off the menu, one of each, or do they have a separate Fantasmic menu?

HELP! I need to change this ASAP!

Thanks! There is currently nothing available at MM. I'm not crushed - I actually don't really care for the TS at DHS. But I thought we would try something new. We will keep checking back thought.

It's been about a year since we've done this and they did not have a special menu, we ordered off the regular menu. My husband had the calamari for the app and I think this is suppose to be for two people but I ordered the breads with dipping oils and it was wonderful. Hubby ordered a spicey pasta dish and I ordered a steak sans the blue cheese dish and we took our desserts to go and enjoyed them while we were waiting for Fantasmic to start. Mama's is one of our family's favs so give it a try! Please be aware we also like Olive Garden and there are a lot of haters out there saying Mama's isn't "authentic" enough for them, just like an Olive Garden isn't authentic.

When we were at Mama's last, it was not a prix fix. The appetizers were similar to Tuttos in Epcot and it was a decent dinner. Don't know if any of that has changed.

I can tell you we have never done the Fantasmic dinner package, and NEVER had a problem using the line.

Do you still have the Brown Derby dinner package ressie? If so, don't cancel unless MM slot opens! I still say it is worth the gamble to show up early and go through the standard Fantasmic line.

Thanks! Since it is EMH - there are 2 Fantasmic showings on the 17th of September. So we went ahead and canceled it. We don't want to use 2 TS just to get in a special line for the show.

Thanks for the info! I think we are going to go CS for now. To be a true WDW junkie, I want to try everything and every place. But ... I have heard such mixed reviews on this place that we have never had the desire to try it. I appreciate your review!

Exactly. You know - we went for our honeymoon in 2005. Loved it! I'm SO glad I was looking at menus last night b/c we made the assumption that it would be the same. This is just another reason to plan plan plan! If I wasn't looking at the menus then we would have gone and wasted 2 TS credits.

It's a bummer that DHS doesn't offer much in the way of very good/great dining....Sci-Fi would merit an honorable mention for atmosphere alone! Now that I think about it, Epcot is the only park in the world with choices (real TS choices).

You could always go over to the Yacht Club for Captain's Grille or one of the other restaurants in the area if you had time.

You could always go to Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club. We'd just take the boat from DHS to BCR, about 10 min, or you can walk there in about 20.

Call at 7 am from the hotel or check the online reservations after 10 pm. The agent told me that since people have until 10 pm to cancel reservations that were guaranteed with credit cards, lots of reservations open up late at night and since the telephone ressies shut down, the easiest way to snag one is to try late at night between 10 and midnight online! We have had such luck since the credit card guarantee was instituted in getting last minute reservations - keep trying!
