Surprising wife

Hi guys,

I just booked a 7 days trip to Disney World this December. My wife knows about this. What she doesn't know is that I'm planning to surprise her with a 3 days Disney cruise to Bahamas prior to the World.

My plan is to surprise her when she sees the big ship herself. Is this doable though? Are there signs in the airport or on the bus that would spoil the surprise? Or if anyone have any ideas how to make this happens, that would be great.

Thanks again

That's actually a very good point. But knowing my wife she would have all the things she needs for the vacation.. Bahamas or not hehe. But perhaps I should go with the safer route :)

Will you be upset if your husband/boyfriend did not tell you ahead of time?
Not at ALL!

I think just remember to pack her bathing suit, some comfy boat shoes, and her kindle/ereader and you should be good to go!

Who can be upset about being surprised with a cruise??? : )

It all depends on what kind of personality your wife is. As for me, as long as my husband made sure I had at least one dress and nice pair of shoes packed (depending on the formality of the cruise, of course), I'd be absolutely delighted by a surprise cruise, and would have no issues whatsoever about wearing whatever I'd packed. Some other women might feel cheated out of the chance to bring exactly what they would have wanted to wear.

If you want to play it safe, surprise her the night before -- around the time she's finishing her packing -- so she can have the surprise, AND the chance to pack as she wishes.

Oh, my wife would kill me if I didn't tell her that a cruise was part of the trip. I can't see how you'll hide it from her until you get to the ship. You'd need to blindfold her the entire trip from the airport to the port. Perhaps you should get a Disney Cruise video or the DVD from the cruise line and ask her watch it shortly before you leave the airport. Hey, just a thought.

How fun! Yes, that's a 'give her a bit of time to prepare' surprise. E-mail her a picture of the ship with the Subject Line "Surprise" or wrap up a little plastic toy boat for her to open and spring it on her. She may need to take something nice to the dry cleaners or go shopping or even just brag about you! :D

You know, as much as I'd LOVE the surprise and the sentiment behind it, I'd really rather know ahead of time. We cruise every year and there is a completely different "packing plan" I use. When traveling to WDW, day wear is a tad more casual and usually you can get away with shorts and casual tops your entire vacation. For a cruise, your wife may want to bring a pair of dress shoes, a little more fancy jewelry, a couple dresses and an evening bag. Have a great vacation!

I was thinking that too.
We have ADR at Cali Grill and she said she would bring a dress, so pretty much she will be geared up for most of the occasions :)

..
But those are good points..
I've been thinking about this and I might tell her a night before.. just to be on the safe side.
Knowing my wife I believe she would be very excited even if I didn't tell her until our arrival, but you guys are right.. it would be more enjoyable for her to think about the trip to bahamas while packing :)

Thanks all

I think the surprise idea is awesome! I haven't been on a disney cruise yet, but based on the other cruises I have been on, it would be really difficult to hold off the surprise until she sees the boat. I'm pretty sure it a completely separate bus to get to the cruise line, probably with a different video on the bus, and 10,000 cast members wearing Mickey hands in the airport directing you to your cruise line buses. You could wait to suprise her until you land at the airport though. If she doesn't pack something that she needs, she can always go shopping on the boat.

I would love to be surprised with this! However, I also agree with the packing issue. If she gets upset just hand her the credit card and tell her to have fun....;)

just saying, my gf would kill me if I didn't tell her ahead of time.

She's also 3 steps ahead of the game when I try to surprise her lol.

Surprises are a good thing! :P
