Ohana Breakfast on 9/20. Help!

So I find myself in an ADR rut as of late...

On our departure day - we have an ADR at Ohana for breakfast at 9:55am. Well the only flight that was direct that wasn't at the a$$ crack of dawn was at 2:35pm. We are figuring that DME will want to take us over there around 11:30 - 12...if not earlier. Which would mean we'd really be rushing our ADR at Ohana.

The only other ADR available for that date at Ohana is 10:35 (even less helpful). Now I plan to check the website every day because you never know when someone will cancel BUT I'd like to have a backup plan...

We are on the DDP - so while Kona looks like a fantastic option (we've never done breakfast at either...or anywhere really) I'd rather go somewhere a little more expensive. Chef Mickeys is also booked. And we are already eating at Cape May Cafe so we don't really feel we want to eat there again even if its for breakfast. So our options are:

Captains Grille - just looks like a good menu
Boma - I don't think I'd ever eat dinner here so this would let us cross it off our list
1900 Park Fare - I don't really even care to see Cinderella characters - but this is another place we wouldnt eat dinner at so breakfast may be our option to cross it off our list
Kona - yes it won't be a good deal on DDP but we've never eaten there. If I could be guaranteed that pumpkin pancakes would be on the menu - I'd book it right now.

The last option is to just eat counter service breakfast and add a lunch ADR somewhere else in the week. We are already doing Crystal Palace earlier in the week. And my fiance isn't super big on breakfast as it is. So what do you guys think? Help! Thank you!

IMO, and you're going to get a lot of opinions so this is just my preference, make an ADR for lunch on another day if you are concerned you wont enjoy ohana breakfast on your departure day. There are two reasons I suggest this to you: First, your fiance isn't a big breakfast person, so you're taking something away that he may enjoy more, for example, if he enjoys lunch more than breakfast, than don't sacrifice an excellent lunch for a breakfast that is only mildly received. Second, take advantage of having some place to sit and relax in the middle of the day, take a load off, escape crowds, heat, and just take a step back to talk to your companions and savour your morning activities while getting excited for you afternoon plans. Personally, counter service lunch always feels as momentous as everything else, the crowds, finding a table to sit at, you never get to just soak it all in. I hope that wherever you decide to eat, it is one of the best meals you ever have.

That's probably one of the nicest things that anyone has ever said to me on here - so thank you. I decided to go ahead and search my options. I looked at Akershus Princess breakfast for another time during our stay and surprisingly came up with an 8:15AM breakfast on a day that EPCOT opens at 9. So the price tag on that breakfast is definitely something we would only go to if we were on DDP - so that helps. And as of right now...our last day will just be counter service breakfast..maybe we'll travel to Wilderness Lodge or something to try Roaring Fork. Who knows. Still hoping for an earlier Ohana.

Oh I think an early breakfast at Epcot is a great idea! I love the thoughts of being in the parks before they are open! Everyone says that is a great breakfast! Enjoy!

but that would require theme park admission, and unfortunately, they would not have time to do anything but eat :( i hope it works out if not, the grand cafe at the grand floridian is perfect, not crowded, and they get you in and out if you want to , just let the server know.
hope this helps :)

Oh I thought she was going to do the Epcot breakfast on an earlier morning in. The trip and just wing it the last one! Sorry if I misunderstood!

1900 Park Fare has Alice, the Mad Hatter, Mary Poppins, & Tigger at breakfast - I see that you already checked & it is not available.
Why not try breakfast at Whispering Canyon?

Of your options, you're going to get the best food at Kona, by far. No question. So if a really good breakfast is the primary concern, overlook the price and just go to Kona. I understand your hesitation, given that you're on the DDP, however. This is one of the primary reasons why i hate the DDP- people end up feeling "obligated" to eat at certain restaurants because they need to get their money's worth. It takes away the ability to be adventurous and try out new places.

Whispering Canyon is another good option if you can get yourself over to the Wilderness Lodge. I assume, since you're taking DME, that you don't have a car, which means in order to get to the Lodge, you'll need to go to the Magic Kingdom, then take the boat over. Repeat that process to return to your resort. Plan on it taking an hour each way, in a worst case scenario. Remember to factor that in to your plans.

Anyway, I hope it works out for you.

Jess, I'm having the same problem for one of our days!! I can't find anything for a breakfast at or near MK! UGH! So frustrating!! We have Akershus booked (which, like you, we booked due to the price. Wouldn't pay it OOP!!) but its on Epcot's 30th and we're afraid they're going to open early and we will miss any ceremonies they do (if they do any) so we're trying to switch some stuff around...

Anywho, if you decide to do counter service, WL does have some AWESOME waffles at Roaring Fork! I got the ones with bananas and a run butter sauce and it was DELISH!! :)

Well now that we have that Akershus booked - we may just leave it like that and hit up counter service on our last day. That way if we want to sleep in...we can just eat at POFQ or RS. Or if we get up - I definitely have my eye on those specialty waffles at WL. Plus we've never been over there at all. I plan to hit up some Tonga Toast (just because I've gotta try it) at Captain Cooks earlier in the week. We'll see.

For now - we are sticking with Akershus as our last DDP credit. It was a sweet opportunity that fell into our laps (finding an 8:15 - 50 days out) so we may just take it and do CS on our last morning. That way we won't feel rushed at any table service.

Keep the Akershus then!! we're having a hard time finding anything as well and we're 60 days out. I check literally 5 or 6 times a day to see if ANYTHING opens up in the MK area. I don't even care if it's Ohana or Chef Mickeys or what... any place will do!! I just can't see using a TS credit for a breakfast other than a buffet. It's just not worth it, not a good value!
