So… everything's looking nice and shiny across the Esplanade, but things ain't so hot around Walt's hallowed grounds - particularly in Tomorrowland, and mostly at Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. @Laura and I had the unfortunate pleasure of riding this attraction during an evening visit to the Resort last night. It was the first time I'd been on it in a while, but as soon as we walked into the queue I knew things weren't gonna be too hot.
The floor was filthy and paint was peeling everywhere. I felt so gross being in there. Then we got the ride vehicles, and they were just plain yucky to look at and sit in.
(excuse the poor quality iPhone pics)
Many of the vehicles had covers over the guns so they couldn't even be used. As you can somewhat see in the third picture, one was completely missing off the chain. And every one that went by was as scratched up as can be. Oh, and the guns… EW. They looked and felt grimy. It was hard to want to play. A bunch of things in the ride were also stationary, by the way.
The exit corridor shared the queue's paint and filthiness problems as well. I know Space Ranger Spin's queue at MK usually ain't pretty either, but in the 11-12 years of riding that thing almost monthly I'd never seen the vehicles there as bad as they were at Disneyland last night.
It'd be nice if they'd shut it down and clean the thing up nicely, but who knows if it'll ever happen. I'm not sure there's even a need for it anymore with Midway Mania just a quick walk away. All I know is that it's a sad day when you've had a better experience on one of those Sally Scooby-Doo themed shoot-em-up's at a Six Flags than on one at Disneyland of all places.
