The disgusting state of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters

So… everything's looking nice and shiny across the Esplanade, but things ain't so hot around Walt's hallowed grounds - particularly in Tomorrowland, and mostly at Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. @Laura and I had the unfortunate pleasure of riding this attraction during an evening visit to the Resort last night. It was the first time I'd been on it in a while, but as soon as we walked into the queue I knew things weren't gonna be too hot.

The floor was filthy and paint was peeling everywhere. I felt so gross being in there. Then we got the ride vehicles, and they were just plain yucky to look at and sit in.

Many of the vehicles had covers over the guns so they couldn't even be used. As you can somewhat see in the third picture, one was completely missing off the chain. And every one that went by was as scratched up as can be. Oh, and the guns… EW. They looked and felt grimy. It was hard to want to play. A bunch of things in the ride were also stationary, by the way.

The exit corridor shared the queue's paint and filthiness problems as well. I know Space Ranger Spin's queue at MK usually ain't pretty either, but in the 11-12 years of riding that thing almost monthly I'd never seen the vehicles there as bad as they were at Disneyland last night.

It'd be nice if they'd shut it down and clean the thing up nicely, but who knows if it'll ever happen. I'm not sure there's even a need for it anymore with Midway Mania just a quick walk away. All I know is that it's a sad day when you've had a better experience on one of those Sally Scooby-Doo themed shoot-em-up's at a Six Flags than on one at Disneyland of all places.

I would think Disneyland version would be more kept up than Disney World's.. Just because of the different parks. MK's was in pretty good condition last week when I rode it. Although it stopped a few times but I think it was because of handicap problems.

Is this a joke? This is disgusting and they need to fix it! It's pathetic. I'm surprised the ride was still open to guests. When I worked in Fantasyland, if an attraction looked this bad, we wouldn't open. Plain and simple. You know what else they need to do? Close Indiana Jones and refurb it. Also I wish they would figure out what to do with the tarps on Alice because they're bothering me and all the other guests. You guys weren't sitting in the scratched up vehicles, were you?

It would've been difficult to find a vehicle that wasn't all beat up to death. ;) It was that bad. I wish it was a joke, but it's not. Also forgot to mention that the Buzz face/mouth projection in the room where your picture is taken was not matching up to the sound at all. Buzz would be talking and his face was still, but then he's not and there's no voice being heard.

Something should be done, and fast. Or gut the thing and give us something that can be well-maintained, cuz this sure as heck ain't being looked at!

Oh heck no... That's horrible. Let's hope and pray and it doesn't look like this today. I'm very shocked it was even open in this condition. Were there any other attractions in this condition?

He's not exaggerating. It was the worst condition I've ever seen a ride in a Disney park. For the past couple years anytime I've been on Buzz I've noticed it has looked a little scratched up and in need of some paint, but last night was REALLY bad. It was our first time riding in a while, and it was yucky. Way worse than his crappy pictures make it look. Someone ought to run in there with a real camera and get some shots. The CM at the loading platform was boarding people in about 1 out of every 3 cars because 2 out of 3 cars were broken, filthy, or just plain missing!

The condition of the rest of the rides is top notch, so this stood out like a sore thumb.

There is no excuse for the condition Buzz is currently in, even more so considering how young the attraction is.

As for the missing "Space Cruiser" I think the one directly in front is the wheelchair one so the back portion folds down to the one behind forming an "L" shaped ramp.

Yikes! I loved this ride so much last time I was there! The MK version pales in comparison... if they can actually paint and maintain the thing over in Disneyland!

Ooh… didn't know that existed. Makes sense now as I look at the picture again. Neat idea.

wow it looks in bad shape :( the one at wdw is fine as of may, at least i think that. it needs a refurbishment asap
I believe that WDW just did a minor refurb in June for Buzz. Only a few days, so I assume it consisted of cleaning up, painting; the cosmetics.

Ah, I was there in 2005...didn't realize it was new then

It soft opened in like early March? and had this weird unofficial grand opening thing around St. Patrick's day then the official opening on May 5th.

We were at DL in early June and the had curtains around Buzz. I guess it beats a strobe light....

Disco Buzz!!!!!! haha

Hopefully Buzz will receive a nice refurbishment soon.
