So why can't Disneyland run the Main Street Electrical Parade?

Disneyland seems to have an embarassment of offerings for their guests right now. Whenever they want and/or need it back - they will have it.

Maybe Orlando is being forced to retire it and DL don't want it back?

Which is odd, considering just 3 years ago they were going to such a large effort to refurb it in the first place - and making it the centerpiece of a summertime promotion, no less.

There's also the embarrassing fact that the MSEP was heavily advertised in SoCal as "Glowing Away Forever" from Disneyland when they were introducing the ill-fated Light Magic in the 90's. They sold lightbulbs from the floats as keepsakes, and it was generally implied (if not outright stated) that MSEP would never be shown in Disneyland again, thus making them collectibles. It could open an interesting legal issue if they brought back the parade to the Disneyland park and thousands of people with these lightbulbs say "Hey, wait just a minute..."

They got around it when they brought it to DCA, as it wasn't running in Disneyland, but you never know how things might turn out if it were moved across the plaza.

Let's put it this way ... if DL takes the MSEP back, I'll go see it. It's my favorite parade and I don't care if they retired it and sold old bulbs as souvenirs. If they can kill off a character in a TV series and then bring him back saying he wasn't killed after all, they can bring back a parade.

I just saw the parade this past week at MK and loved every minute of it. The only thing I missed was the Casey Jr sequence. Why did they remove that at MK? Is it because there's no such ride at the MK?

Disneyland could use a new Light Parade with real music, a new name and Bigger units. Maybe just use the Blue Fairy, the bugs and Casey Jr with its Giant drum to keep it origional. Then they can have a light parade on Main Street again. I bet it would be a big deal and draw allot of attention. I would travel across the country to see it plus I still have to visit Disneyland for the first time anyway.

Could it though? With 2 Fantasmics and 1 Magical the crowd controls are tough enough. Plus it's not exactly hurting without one.

I'm sure it's not a matter of not being able to run MSEP, but actually wanting to run it. We've got the firework show, two Fantasmic showings and Soundsational. Disneyland's good with nighttime entertainment, there's no need for more. There's enough.

It's not can't, it's more don't want to.
Thats to bad, so many people like it. On the other hand Soundsational is a nice gesture to the park and looks good in the light. The modern art on those units with the Tapestry of Nations color scheme looks good all lit up and the artwork is a big thing for me, thats why theres only 5 non light parades in Disney history I actrualey like. For some odd reason I like the music.
