Karting coming to Downtown Disney as part of Car Masters Weekend

I have been wanting a permanent Karting Experience in DTD for a LONG time. F1 Boston is hugely popular (to the point where they opened up a larger outdoor experience).

The Karts at F1 do about 35mph...and while that doesn't seem fast, when you're low to the ground and have tight corners, it's more than fast enough. A Disney-fied experience would be amazing.

As a lifelong Kart racer I would love it. i HATE going to Orlando GP and being stuck with the electric karts.

I would love to see a Disney-fied version of The Speed Zone in Dallas with dragsters, F1, Karts and a slick track.

That place is exactly what I fear as someone who has raced karts (and cars everynow and then) to go to Disney. They are so watered down and bland it is now fun. A true kart track indoors would pull locals all around.
You have to appeal to somewhat of a lowest common denominator. Speedzone is nowhere near what a pro track would be but nearly anyone could do it.

Master Yoda - have you ever driven a cart at (or watched a cart race) at the place here in Jax on 103rd, near Cecil? I saw Juan Pablo Montoya race there a couple of years ago in an international race...

I like the idea - I'd pay to run a real cart occasionally on one of our visits - good training for our 14 year old son!

VLK in Charlotte is a good track for beginners, kids, and die hards, as well as GForce in Richmond, and AIK in Va Beach. With places like that popping the the common denominator places are slowly shutting down one by one. Williamsburg has a place that has shut various tracks down. The places like VLK have excellent youth setups and common D's cannot hold a candle to it. They are becoming more and more common.

They should build a permanent karting place. They could maybe even include it with a new budget resort themed around racing and cars. Man i should be an imagineer.

Seen, yes at Pecan Park if I am not mistaken. Granted it was many many moons ago. I also saw a few races at the fairgrounds in Nassau County.

Would be cool if they did a resort and kart track and teamed up with Nintendo. A Nintendo themed resort with a Mario Kart themed track would be killer for kids and adults. We all grew up playing the games. They have a great relationship with Nintendo and the Kingdom Hearts Series. They should really capitalize on it. Count me in!!!
