We have always gone to Disney as a family ( me/wife/3 kidss..sometimes a friend) and we always do things together. But MAN -O-MAN do I look forward to sometimes having my "alone time". Now that kids older and when we go its usually just me, dw and dd. Could be while they are sleeping in morning. OR if they choose to go back at night to the pool OR maybe the times they decide to just have girls shopping. But when those times do occur MAN-O-MAN do I enjoy my time . Just walking and taking my time watching people, or listening to the street sounds ( the small bands, dancers etc). It could even be just finding that special rocking chair, usually in frontier land and just rock away and watch passerbyers. Taking my time in the stores and most time buying nothing. Don't usually go on the rides alone except for people mover in Mk..but will do the show attractions like HOP or COP...anyway how many other of you "Guys" look forward to your "alone time"?

I completely know the feeling. Every trip with the family, I found myself at least once or twice going off on my own and enjoying that time the most! Finally taking my first solo trip in september for 6 days and I cannot wait for this. I do have a friend thats going to be there the same time but I will be alone and relaxed for most of this trip.. I've waited years for this. :)

When the DDs were younger the DH would take them to Quest or a movie and would give alone time to shop and wander around DTD. Now that DDs are old enought to go off on their own...DH will head back to the room for rest, DD will most of the time stay in the park and will do what ever feels right. Most of the time I will head back to the room with DH and then just wander the resort area. I love to people watch!!! Will be taking a trip in 24 days to visit with oldest DD who will be a CM in the CP in a week and I am looking forward to both girls wanting to do something without me so me and my camera can take in the all the flowers at EPCOT!!!!

LOVE my alone time at WDW....I'm not a guy, but I get it...I really do. I have made three solo trips to WDW and plan on many more. I love my alone time anywhere though, so...I'm quite comfortable there. My dh would say the same...he loves it too. :)

I'm in the same boat as you! I'm finally taking my first solo trip to WDW this September as well. I'm getting there September 29th. How about yourself? I can't wait to experience everything all on my own. I've read so many great stories about solo trips, it'll be nice to get away from Jersey for a week.

Never mind, just noticed you'll be there a week before me. Just missing ya by a day. Have an amazing stay!

I enjoy alone time. I really like sitting outside RnRC while my husband and daughter ride. I just there and people watch and take pictures. I did ride The Great Movie Ride once by myself, and you know, I didn't really enjoy it alone. I don't know why, I just felt awkward. I know it isn't true but I just felt people were looking at me and thinking "Aww that poor lady is all alone" haha I just don't know if I could do a solo trip.

When I was a CP at WDW I loved to just pick a park and people watch. You see everything from the vacation crazy to the totally adorable when you just sit down and relax. I miss those days, one of the perks of working for the mouse I suppose. I also used to enjoy just walking around DAK and visiting all the nooks and trails to see the animals, including my favorite, the capybara (but I don't think they are there anymore).

I'm usually in the same boat as you, MIKETFROMRI. Whenever we head down, we always end sticking together as a group for the most part. On our previous 4 trips, it was usually myself, my wife, our two children (mid to late teens), my brother, and my mother in law. The fourth trip last March was our first trip with just the family (wife, kids, and me) and my wife and I were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and were hoping to get some time to ourselves that trip. Unfortunately that didn't happen. :brick: But what I did end up getting was some unexpected "alone" time on a couple of occasions and like yourself, I made the best of it. The one night after dinner, I wasn't feeling the greatest, so I told the wife and kids to head off to Fantasmic! without me while I just stayed back at Pop Century. I grabbed my resort mug and camera and went and got a drink in the cafeteria and then took a nice leisurely stroll along the Pop walkways and took in the sights and sounds and got some nice pictures of the resort. I sat around the pool for a bit and read a book before finally heading back up to our room.

You are from Jersey too? Yup, we will be just missing eachother by a day! Thank you, and you have an amazing stay as well! I am so excited and especially from all of the advice given on these boards, I haven't heard one negative about going solo yet.

I have, in the past, enjoyed taking a solo trip to the MK. recently while in orlando for a meeting, i had the opportunity to swing by Disney for 2 hours. So i walked around 1/2 the park, took a picture or two on my iPhone, got a dole whip and left... BUT ABSOLUTELY ENJOYED IT!! :):)

Yup, I'm from Central Jersey. Only about an hour and 15 minutes from Cherry Hill. How about yourself? My original plan was to do a solo trip around December this year because I wanted to experience Disney during Christmas since I experienced it during Halloween last year. But, the right prices lined up for the Art of Animation resort plus the inclusion of Epcot's 30th Anniversary made me pull the trigger on another fall getaway. I can't wait to see the Art of Animation in person, all the concept artwork for it looks incredible.

My alone time is always solo trips..I have a blast and it feels like all the weight of everything is off your shoulders and you can do whatever you want to do without the hassle and the "I don't want to do that'" or "That's a stupid ride"..I say if you want to ride Small world 8 times...Do it!

Like I Said in My Previous Thread About Alone Time.....BUT!

I mentioned in my thread about cherishing alone time to just do whatever, but I was surprised about how many people responded saying they take SOLO trips to Disney. THAT I could not see myself doing. AS much as I love that alone time I DO look forward to meeting up say for dinner with the family, or meeting back at the room at night after we have been apart, BUT to make a trip all by myself to Disney..I for one could not do that...its too much about family for me. BUT to each his/her own

My whole trip in September 2011 was one week solo! LOVED it and I rode every and any ride I wanted too...took my time shopping and sightseeing...took my time eating....and did every show I could get into. It was hands down one of the best trips ever! No fighting, no arguing, no "I don't want to do thats" - it was quite awesome! :ROFLOL:

All the positive feedback leads me to think that after this September, solo trips are going to be a routine for me haha I definitely have plans of doing a solo trip next December since I opted for the fall again this year. Anyone thinking that far in advance for a solo trip yet? haha

how the heck do people eat alone?

Some people don't mind it, and others can't imagine doing it. There are some places that I don't mind eating alone if I happen to find myself there solo, but having a dining companion is always nice. I also think that specialty dining is nice when you are solo. I did the chef's wine tasting dinner at Flying Fish last year when I had a night on my own. There was a lot of interaction with the kitchen and they kept me very entertained, so I definitely didn't mind being solo. If anything, I might have had a better experience because I was dining alone.
