Beach Club villas vs Bay Lake Towers!

Hi all! So my family is booking a trip for August (12-20th I believe). My question is, Beach Club or Bay Lake?! We have a large party and the price is pretty even just a little different. We stayed at Beach Club our last trip and absolutely LOVED it. We are debating whether to play it safe and keep it familiar or try something new. We have 7 people, the kids ranging from 15-20. For that reason I feel the freedom of being on the boardwalk fits our age group well. We do spend a lot of time at Epcot, but Bay Lake seems equally as wonderful...any thoughts!? :D

I've stayed at both—two bedroom villa at BCV and one bedroom at Bay Lake. They're both fantastic resorts. If you've already stayed at the BC, I'd recommend Bay Lake simply to try something new. I wouldn't pay the extra money for a theme park view room; it mostly overlooks the back of Space Mountain and the BLT parking lot. By August, the majority of Monorail work should be finished and you won't have problems with the service in the Contemporary. Plus, if you've already stayed at an Epcot resort, you know the satisfaction of walking back to your room at the end of the day. Now imagine that at the Magic Kingdom. :D

My two favorite villa properties! Both are fabulous, both distinctively different. I was at the Beach Club in January, and at Bay Lake just 2 weeks ago. Headed back to the Beach Club in October, and back to Bay Lake in February/March. Clearly you can see how I struggle choosing between the two

I prefer the Beach Club for a trip that will focus on two things: access to Epcot and "swimability" of the dates of our trip. As you know, Stormalong Bay is undeniably the place to swim at all of the WDW resorts. While the Bay Cove pool at BLT is great, it doesn't match Stormalong Bay. Access to Epcot, for us, is a huge plus during a trip that is perhaps a) childless or b) during an Epcot prime time (like Food and Wine or Flower and Garden).

The "walkability" of both resorts is undeniably great, too. When we go with our children, which is pretty much every trip, we are at the MK every day at some point. For us, the walkway to the MK is worth every penny alone. When we are at the Beach Club, having the walking access to Epcot and HS is just as big of a plus. And, of course, the proximity of the Boardwalk and the entertainment it offers goes without saying.

If you think your party is bound to split into different directions, I would lean towards the Beach Club; I feel it has a bit more to offer as far as walkable activities at your fingertips.

Our family consists of little ones 6 and under - hence the draw to Bay Lake and the MK. For the ages of the "kids" in your crew - Beach Club seems to call out to me as a good match for you - in my humble opinion!

You cannot go wrong with either property. Don't think of Beach Club as "playing it safe" - think of it as a dear old friend that's joining you on your trip ;)

Thanks for all the input! We went ahead with BLT. Although we love the beach club, we were only able to secure 2 rooms as opposed to a villa. With BLT we are renting DVC points so it actually came out cheaper to get a BLT villa over 2 rooms at BC. Im excited to try it out!!

good for you going for a new experience!

have never stayed at the BCV, but i can attest to how AWESOME BLT is. my wife and i stayed there on the back end of our honeymoon last august. we absolutely loved it. we had a one bedroom (with MK view) and it was VERY spacious, decor was (obviously) contemporary and very fun. two bathrooms in a one bedroom, which was a life saver. easy access to the contemporary (walk way is on the fifth floor). top of the world lounge is gorgeous. just a very serene experience.

only thing i would tweak if i were them was eliminate the pool games, since there's no way to get around them without having a quiet pool. but then again, i'd eliminate pool games at all the resorts if i could. particularly OKW. then again, we don't have kids.

I love staying at the Epcot resorts, although I prefer the Boardwalk to the Beach Club - just personal preference. However if I had the chance to stay at Bay Lake, I'd definitely take it! I think it was a great idea to book BLT - just to mix it up. It looks absolutely beautiful there.

Thankyou! I love the Epcot resorts, they feel like home. But I'm happy to have the new opportunity :D

Depends on what your priorities are. If you like Epcot the best I would say BC, if MK is your favorite I would say BLT. Beach club has best pool complex hands down, as well as quick access to DHS and Boardwalk area. Personally we enjoy the 5 minute walk to less crowded entrance to Epcot from beach Club.

Amen Brother!!!
LOL!!:ROFLOL:

On my mellow resort days, I always try to arrange my pool time so I'm heading back to the room as the games start, and then back to the pool as they're ending.:D
