Disney World Christmas Time

Hey guys, after my Disneyland trip this July and my Disney World trip this August, I'm considering a possible Christmastime getaway back to WDW. I'm thinking maybe a 5 day stay, what would be the best time to go where the crowds won't be insane but there will be tons of holiday related events going on? I was thinking either the first or second week of December. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Personally, I woud look at the second week of December. You'll avoid any post-Thanksgiving crowds, and the Pop Warner tournament should be over as well.

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely start looking into it now. I'd love to stay at the new Art of Animation resort but I think the prices for it are a little higher than I want to pay right now. It's still too early to tell but if the Art of Animation falls through, I'll most likely end up staying at All-Star Movies. I really enjoyed my stay there this past October. Thanks again for the heads up.

Not sure if this qualifies, but the week of Thanksgiving is great. It's less crowded in the beginning of the week, but by the end of the week it ramps up. But, it's never as crowded as the peak X-mas crowds. Plus, you get to see the world as the decorations/theming are all put into high-gear in one or two nights.

If you want to see all the Christmas happenings and also miss the larger crowds I would also suggest looking into the second week of December. The taping of the Christmas Day parade is done and the main tree tree will be in place bythis time and Epoct will now be in full swing. Hope you have fun planning and enjoy all the decoration at Christmas. Make sure you make time to visit some of the reosrt. Grand Floridain and Wilderness Lodge should be on the top of your list!!!

We usually go the second week of November, usually around the 10th as all the decorations are up and the Osbourne lights start about then. Not very crowded. Love it.:xmas:

Christmas in 2012 is on a Tuesday... so you could expect decent prices and low crowds up until Saturday the 22nd. We made the trip on a year when Christmas was on a Tuesday and the crowds weren't bad at all until that Saturday before Christmas, they then started to ramp up and by the Monday before Christmas it was like peak crowds.... you might also look into when the Mickeys Christmas event is scheduled. Then you can get the fake snow and free coookies and coco (not free really because the event tickets are not pretty pricey)... but it is worth it for the ability to ride rides easily.

We went the second week of December in both 2007 and 2011 and both trips were well worth it. Great time of year to be in the The World. The weekday crowds were very good with the weekends definitely being more crowded - especially the end of the second week.

Our last trip to WDW was the Saturday after Thanksgiving (2 days after Thanksgiving). Crowds seemed a bit lighter and all the Christmas decorations appeared to be up save for the big tree at Magic Kingdom. It was probably our best trip to WDW. Stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Everything was quite beautifully decorated everywhere.

We enjoyed it so much that we'll probably go 2 days after Christmas next time.

Thanks a lot guys for all your feedback! I'm definitely leaning more towards the second week of December if everything can work out. I'm also still hopeful on staying at the Art of Animation resort. I'll keep everyone posted with how things proceed. Thanks again!
