Dumbo's Last Day

If the date on parks calendar holds then today should be the last day for the old Dumbo, so we should see walls around it when the park opens tomorrow. I personally see this as a major milestone in the Fantastland project. It's going to be a very exciting year!

Everything is moving so quickly now. I bet all of the attention is on Storybook Circus right now, or at least the Dumbo Spinners and The Great Goofini!

I wonder how many kids are going to be disappointed to see that Dumbo is closed on their vacation

Kids?? Heck me and the wife are disappointed and im 36! I just know ahead of time because of the updates on here so I get to be disappointed for a longer time.:)

Despite some of the comments, I think POTC is right - there will be some kids who are disappointed about not being able to ride Dumbo. It is an extremely iconic ride, often featured prominently in promotional videos and pictures. For an anxious child who can't wait to ride it, I think it could cause a meltdown.

Of course, I also think they would be able to rebound fairly quickly. Thankfully, there are plenty of other attractions to soon capture their attention.

My granddaughter would be. She hasn't been since 2007 and still is mad because there is no more Pocahontas show at AK. She is also worried about Barnstormer. Kids have their favorites and remember.

That'd be funny if the ride broke down just so you could say, "He only had ONE more day until retirement!" And then proceed to weep uncontrollably over the immobile elephant.

Yeah, and so is Space Mtn, BTM, Spash, the Castle, Pirates, Mansion, Peter Pan, etc etc etc

Things have to close for refurbishment. If it causes a "meltdown" pack up the brat on the next flight home.

Well they could always ride that misplaced Dumbo clone in Adventureland...or the one high atop Tomorrowland. :king:

I thought the intent was to always keep one Dumbo open...

So, they'd open the new one and then take the old one down and relocate it. It makes sense to open it all at once though.

Guess they changed thier plans at some point. I still don't understand why they closed the existing Dumbo early. Disney has already said that Dumbo would re-open with only one spinner initially, and since the expected opening date is Feb 17th, why not just keep the current one running until then?
