Les Chefs de France

We just returned from our vacation and we were very very disappointed at the service at Les Chefs. Has anyone else had some problems there during recent trips?

For starters IMO, there are too many tables packed in the restaurant. We were constantly jostled by people or servers. And it took nearly 30 minutes after we concluded eating to get our waitress to get our check - and they were not even very busy at this point as many tables were vacant. We spent almost 2 hours there eating and with a small child this was problematic.

I overheard a few other guests complaining as well around us that had different servers that the service was bad and slow.

This used to be a favorite place to dine for us. I wanted to give a heads up to those who look forward to this restaurant given our experience. I hope we just hit it on a bad day.

We always understand, going in....this will be an expensive....and long meal. Knowing that, we always enjoy it. Do you think it's just a cultural difference in expectations???

I agree. My recollection is that we have always enjoyed Le Chefs and understand that its going to be a longer than average dining experience. We love the menu and the food has always been great as well as the service.

We ate dinner at Les Chefs in January & November 2010 and lunch during our trip last month. We've not had bad service and the food was always good.

For us, restaurants around WDW are always a crap-shoot. Sometimes you end up with crappy service at a place you've always had perfect service. It's funny how bad service can totally kill an otherwise good meal. I've certainly been put off to various restaurants at WDW because of poor service experiences. Haven't seen me go back to Ohana's or CRT for breakfast, have ya? Nope. There's a reason for that. :animwink:

Yep

Case in point, we spent close to 2 and half hours in Rose and Crown last trip. It was not even busy.

The woman at the table next to us was going off on the servers and manager. They were trying to make it up to her by offering desserts etc and she kept saying "you are trying to offer me more, and what I really wanted was an entree that was delivered hot and in less than an hour"

Sorry about your experience...It's always crowded and busy there, but I have never had a bad experience like you had -- Ate there in June, and will dine there again tomorrow afternoon...

I agree that it's the same all over WDW -- sometimes you can have amazing service, and just two days later it can be terrible. It's a setting in which it's hard to maintain consistent service industry standards since they have so many employees, so many different people changing shifts, and just plain old good staff and not-so-good staff...

Sorry about that! I wouldn't not go back just because of this one experience -- in fact, just three hours later it could be completely different.

Have had great experiences both times we have eaten here.

Our biggest complaint was that on our first time there, our waiter was from ITALY, but happened to speak French, yet had never been to France. I was a HS student with 6 years of French and wnated to use it and talk about going to France as we ate. Didn't work out.

We ate there on October 11th, and the service was the best we had the whole trip. The waiter was great and spent a lot of times talking to our daughters and making them feel special.

I was a little apprehensive about trying it because I have heard so many mixed reviews, but it was one of the best experiences we had during our trip.

I agree that service at WDW as a whole is a crapshoot.
