So how different is the Yeti in full mode?

I was on Expedition Everest in March 2010. I went on it despite a lot of people complaining about it on these boards.

I thought it was a fantastic ride and this whole debate about the Yeti not being in full mode never entered my mind. I mean, when you are in the dark you see his silhouette ripping apart the coaster track.

But then I watched an old video on Youtube and noticed something different that I don't remember. I was sitting at the front of the coaster when I rode it and I don't remember the Yeti swiping at you as you leave the last tunnel. It was very reminiscent of Jurassic River Adventure with T-Rex.

So is that the main difference or is there more? Personally I would find that it would add more to the ride

That is the main difference but there are a number of other effects that have either been removed or seldom work.

Honestly, I could care less if the yeti is in a or b mode. You go by it so fast you barely get a chance to see it. In fact the first time I rode I missed it completely. I would prefer the water effects and other smaller effects work.

It was far more than just the motion. There was an actual show scene, with lighting, audio, and of course all the detail of the yeti and it moving.

I think the A-mode yeti was AMAZING and made EE my favorite attraction at the time. As you passed under the yei instead of a light flashing on him, you saw him from when you entered the tunnel (he was well lit) and he would roar and swoop and and swipe at the car as you passed under. It did happen quickly, but it was such a close encounter with such a huge creature. It was truly amazing. it was definitely the heart-pounding climax of the ride. The ride is still a beautiful well-themed, attraction, but Disco yeti can't compare to A-mode yeti's former glory.

I really think the people who don't care must never have seen the real fully working A_mode yeti because it was truly amazing. I could go on and on about how realistic and scary it was, and how it felt to have this several ton gigantic yeti actually LUNGE and SWIPE at you rather than just standing there, but then people might call me a fangirl..

That yeti scene was pretty good. I still remember the first time riding Expedition Everest. We didn't expect the yeti at all. My Grandpa at his mid 70's was so impressed he grabbed for the video camera while on the ride so fast he slammed his arm, while he was at it and opened his arm up bad. He was so impressed by the yeti scene and the whole ride he had no idea his arm was gushing all over the seat until the ride was over and a cast member started bugging out. The nurse loaded his arm up with starry strips and bandaged his arm up, it was pretty bad and after all that he wanted to ride again LOL.
