An April 2011 Trip Report!!

So here we are again, about to embark on another magical trip to "the world" so let's get right to it!!

The Cast: Me (obviously) and my DBF Ryan. We will also have a few special appearances from other members of my family!

When: April 15 - 24 2011

Where: Pop Century Resort

Why: Well not that we needed any excuse to take our third trip to the world in 14 months but, my goddaughter was dancing with her dance troop as part of Disney's Performing Arts. I was also on spring break from work this week :animwink:

April 15, 2011

So if you have read my previous report you will see that Ryan and I have taken the drive to WDW before and we would be doing it again on this trip! Because it was leading into Easter, airfare was just astronomical so we decided to hit the road. Before work I packed up the car and at 2:45 Ryan was at my job and we were ready to go. Unfortunately we were not as lucky as we had previously been on the ride down. From where we are in NJ to the gates of WDW usually takes 15-16 hours; we only stop for gas, insane, I know. The traffic was just unreal through DE, MD, and VA; we made it to South of The Boarder in South Carolina by 2:50 am!!! Normally after being on the road for 12 hours we would have been somewhere in Georgia and not just entering South Carolina :fork:

Finally like music to my ears I see this..

Oh and yes, by this time it is:
April 16, 2011

I actually don't remember what time we finally arrived at the hotel (my guess was somewhere around noon), probably because I was dirty, delirious, and sleep deprived! I had used the on-line check in prior to leaving but our room was not ready when we arrived. The CM told us they were just finishing cleaning the room and would not be long so we decided to lay by the pool. Two hours had passed and we had not heard anything so Ryan went back to check on the room. He spoke with a different CM this time who told him we had been misinformed before, so we played the waiting game for another hour or so. I don't like to make a fuss or cause problems, I understand it's a busy time of year so I kept trying to not get all worked up. It seemed like an eternity of waiting and after being in the car for so long and not sleeping I broke down and started to cry. Ryan hated seeing me upset and went to speak to a manager about the room, within 10 minutes he had moved us from the 50s to the 90s building, with a king bed, and gave Ryan 2 flowers to give to me.

We threw our stuff in the room, got cleaned up, and headed right out to HS because we had a reservation at Sci-Fi! This was our first time there and although I wasn't trilled with my chicken sandwich the atmosphere was great. Ryan loved it, but than again, I feel like he would eat anything! After we ate there really was no time to stick around, we were meeting my Aunt, Nanny, God-Daughter, and Cousin over at Magic Kingdom! It was time to...

IMG_0160.jpg

We headed over to the Haunted Mansion to check out the new interactive queue. Now, I should let you know, I am the certified Disney nut in the family and my Aunt had said that when they rode it earlier they did not see anything, little did they know, they took the wrong route through the cemetery!

IMG_0163.jpg
IMG_0166.jpg

My nan is not one for rides but she came along, as soon as our Doom Buggies turned around and went down hill she started freaking out, I should mention my nan was born and raised in Dublin and did not come to American until the mid 1960's so she has a pretty distinct accent, nothing was funnier to me than hearing her yell "AHHH JAY-ZUS GET ME OFF THIS TING" :ROFLOL:

Afterwards we headed into FL because I needed to see what was going on behind those construction walls, the suspense had been killing me since our previous trip in August of 2010 when there was nothing but dirt and some metal. But now what do I see peaking over the walls, in between the trees...

The Caste of The Beast (it's amazing how much has been done since these pictures were taken), at the time this was the only visible structure of the FLE

We laid low this morning and took our time getting ready. By 1:30 we had reached the gates of MK and were headed up Main Street for our lunch reservation at Crystal Palace! The variety in their lunch buffet, is great, we usually bounce back and forth between breakfast and lunch at CP.

First up was my favorite, Eeyore! I always want to take him home with me and love him, I hate that he is so lonely! He was shortly followed up by his friends Tigger, and Piglet (who for some reason was so excited to see me)

IMG_0552.jpg

IMG_0553.jpg

We finished eating and we waited...and waited...for our pal Pooh. Just when we were about to call it quits..

IMG_0555.jpg

By the time we finished lunch it was almost time for the parade so we decided to take a seat on the curb and wait.

IMG_0556.jpg

IMG_0558.jpg

Lady Tremaine came up to me during the parade and told me I must be someone of great importance, Mr. Smee than tried to steal my tiara..how rude LOL

For the first time we took a spin on the WDW Railroad

IMG_0573.jpg

Afterwards, we decided to head back over to Hollywood Studios to see if we could ride Toy Story. We tried to ride it almost every and the wait times were outrageous. At one point the wait was 220 minutes!!! Unbelievable!

Of coarse, we were unsuccessful this time as well. We decided we would go to the AM EMH on the next day to make sure we got on! One Man's Dream had just re-opened from a refurb and we had never seen it so we decided to check it out. We stayed to watch the film at the end, the whole time I kept saying I wanted to get back to MK for Wishes...yes, again.

We hightailed it out of there right after caught a bus to MK, we made it to Wishes with maybe 2 min. to spare..phew!

Up ahead: Our last full day, and an extremely early rise to ride Toy Story Mania!

Love the tiara!! I have so many crowns for different pageants but all I really want is one from Disney!! lol

You got some really great pics of the tigers at AK. They're always boring and sleeping when I'm there! Lucky you!!

And I'm with you on Wishes... I could watch it every night! Definitely gets me all teared up... Just something about that Disney magic!!!! *sigh* :)

I LOVE the tigers! Normally they are sleeping but I really did get lucky. We were there for about 20 minutes before the second one even woke up and started moving around.

You must get yourself a Disney tiara on your next trip.. I better see one in the next TR :ROFLOL:

He's always been my favorite too. I feel he gets no respect (or at least not the amount he deserves).

I totally agree! Poor Eeyore gets no love, except from us!

Hope so finish up the TR some time later this week. You will all have to forgive me, I have been house/pool/puppy sitting for the past week for my parents while they are on vacation.

Ok ya'll here we are, the last full day.

Quick side note: must apologize for the delay (not that anyone was dying to read the rest of this :ROFLOL:) but I pulled my back out twice and than had to house/dog/pool sit for my parents for a week...

Ok enough of that..back on board!

April 22 2011

Today was the day! The day we were determined to get on TSMM. As I had said during my report, the wait for this was out of this world the entire week, and as much as I love it, I was not willing to wait 220 minutes on line. We were up bright and squirelly and out of the room by 6am!

HS was opening at 7am for EMH and much like everyone else we made a run for it as soon as the park opened. CM's were begging people to slow down and stop running...sorry, not a chance!

By the time we got over there, we grabbed fast passes, which were already for almost 2 hours after opening. We jumped on the stand by line, which was 25 min, at 7:15am

these are GOLD!!

IMG_0598-1.jpg

For once, I finally beat Ryan at this !! Usually my arm gets tired from pulling the string so fast and I just can't finish him off, but I guess he was just too tired since I woke him up so early

IMG_0585.jpg

Because we had time to kill before we could use our fast passes we headed over to ..

IMG_0589.jpg

IMG_0590-1.jpg

Which was immediately followed up by ToT!

IMG_0591-1.jpg

We rode twice and each time I look scared out of my wits, it never fails! Just look at the woman looking at me with the "Are you serious" look on her face !

IMG_0595.jpg

IMG_0593.jpg

At about 9:20 we headed back over to TSMM to use of fast passes and say our goodbyes to HS

IMG_0599-1.jpg

I wouldn't be so lucky this time...I lost...womp womp!

Next up: our final night at MK..with 3am EMHs of coarse!

:ROFLOL: I am the same exact way!! I love the ride but the anxiety leading up to it makes me a big baby! As soon as I get off I end up running right back around to go on again! Love it!!

What a great trip report! You are gorgeous! You and your boyfriend make a beautiful couple! That's so nice that the photopass photographer did something so special for you two and I literally laughed out loud when I read that they gave your boyfriend flowers for you because you cried. I don't know why I found it so funny, but for some reason I just pictured myself in that situation and thought it would have made me laugh if they did that for me.

It was so funny, he comes back with these flowers and I'm asking myself, where the hell did these come from lol

April 22 2011 cont..

After a crazy morning at HS it really was time to head back for a nap, especially because we had 3am EMH's to attend at MK!

We headed to MK around 6 and headed straight to meet the mouse himself. This was not long after the opening of the new meet and greet and surprisingly, no line at all!

IMG_0600-1.jpg

LOVED the moving posters!

IMG_0601.jpg

IMG_0602.jpg

Don't you just love how this looks like two separate pictures LOL I have no idea how the CM managed this. The photopass picture was much better.

We stopped for Move It Shake It than made our way up Main Street where of coarse I stopped to take another million pictures of the castle!

We really had no agenda kinda just putzing around until our "last super" at Tony's! This has become somewhat of a tradition for us to have our last dinner there.

It was beautiful outside and we had a seat out on the patio

IMG_0620-1.jpg

I'm sorry, my kid can cry all they want, I am NOT paying $15 for a balloon! (I say that now, when I actually have one I'll probably offer to buy them all the balloons they want!)

No dinner at Tony's is complete without the infamous ice cream bomb..yum!

IMG_0621-1.jpg

I know Tony's get mixed reviews but we love it. I actually recommended it to my family earlier in the trip and they thought it was great too! We were really hoping to eat while the MSEP was going but service was speedy and we only stayed to watch at Tony's for a few. I had to get myself a prime spot for my last night of Wishes! I was so proud of myself for not taking pictures of the fireworks...instead I recorded it with my Droid and now I get to watch it whenever I want!!

The park started to clear out, lots of sleepy kiddies knocked out in their strollers heading for the exit. We headed towards the Astro Orbiter; for whatever reason we had never ridden this together, and I can't remember ridding it ever.

IMG_0625.jpg

There we are..crammed in that little rocket ship. I'm not sure what adults those things were built for but it is one hell of a snug fit! The vertigo I felt wasn't too much fun but the views from up above were awesome!

We headed across to Buzz where we both had our game faces on..

IMG_0627.jpg

check out the concentration!

I hadn't been to the speedway since I was a kid. The line is always pretty long and since we drive everyday, we couldn't justify ever waiting...until now. We waited about 5 minutes and hoped in our cars, of coarse Ryan doesn't listen to the no bumping rules..thanks!

We took a stroll through Fantasyland one last time and I stopped to grab some shots of the expansion signs

IMG_0629.jpg

IMG_0630.jpg

How cute are they...

IMG_0631.jpg

By this time we had about an hour left before we got the boot so we headed to SWSA to wave goodbye to Dopey

IMG_0632.jpg

We hightailed it over to HM for one last ride, followed by BTM and SM

IMG_0633.jpg

This was followed by Pirates and Jungle Cruise. I even spotted a Mickey made of flowers in Adventureland!

IMG_0634.jpg

It was 2:30 when we crossed back into the hub, it was only a matter of time before the tears came. Ryan went to go grab some popcorn and we hung around until the kiss goodnight, I still couldn't bring myself to leave.

I just stood on Main St, staring at the castle, tears rolling down my face.."don't make me go!"

IMG_0637.jpg

MY CASTLE!

IMG_0638.jpg

We walked slowly towards the gate, it would NOT be a magical day. I may have been asleep before my head hit the pillow, my head filled with pixie dust and the memories of another amazing Disney trip!

Thanks to everyone who followed along, I will be on my way to the world in 19 short days and I cannot wait! I will actually be taking notes and such this trip, it will be my first since getting sucked into all this TR business, so look for a brand spanking new TR sometime in October with better/more details and pics!!
