Changes to Indy Stunt Show

So I was watching the Indy show this afternoon and noticed a few changes. At first I thought it was a one time thing but as the show went on I noticed others, most likely driven by safety initiatives. I haven't watched the show in a fee months so I don't know if this is old news or not...

(1) In the Cairo market scene, the director yells cut before Indy gets to the teetering ladder on the last building. They then reset and pick back up for the exploding truck scene. (2) It seems like slot of the fight choreography between Indy and the Mechanic has been moved to the padded mat (instead of under/around the plane). Instead of dying by the plane's propellor, he is shot by a gun and falls on the mat. Also, the "ring of fire" around the plane that Indy jumps through was never lit. I think the last one might have been a coincidence though since I've seen this happen before.

Has anyone else noticed these changes? I hope they can find good workarounds since these changes take away from the intensity of the show.

Wow news to me. It must be fairly new, I was there June 8-11 and we watched the show and it was not like this at all. Hey atleast it gives us a reason to see the "new" show lol.

I think these changes are just for when their training new actors. I've seen both versions of the show on the same trip and noticed different actors were working on each show. That's just a guess though.

They do have a lot of "B" spots they change out for different reasons. It sounds like they were training a new Indy.

if that is the case... lame

guests shouldn't have to watch a watered down show because the staff isn't up to speed. Train enough to do the full show BEFORE putting them in front of the audience.

when do you expect them to do such training? The parks are open 365 days a year with shows almost continuously all day

They probably just had a couple of things go wrong. The last time I went the timing on the final explosion was off. Indy wasn't able to pull Marion out of the plane quick enough so as they left the plane, one Nazi fired a couple of shots and the whole scene exploded....

The last show I saw was very weird. Before the second stunt sequence they went on "stand by" and and the audience waited a few minutes with some music playing before they started again. Then when they did the second stunt sequence the truck didn't explode in flames. However, during the time they usually set up for the final sequence, they never changed the set and they just ended up doing the last part of the second stunt sequence again with the truck catching on fire this time. Then they ended the show...any idea what happened there?

Its a live, and dangerous show........., although they try to make it perfect every time, things CAN and DO go wrong, so they sometimes have to improvise.

what was the weather during the show (or just prior to)? we have been there when rain has forced Indy and all the stunt actors off of the higher buildings due to wet conditions. they make an announcement before the show starts. many of the changes you stated sound a lot like what we saw under rainy conditions.

I was there last week and the show is the same as always...

However, back in May I saw a different version of the show which was shorter with some of the stunts cut out due to rain we had had earlier that day.

Small changes happen all the time in live performances. even more so in stunt-based performances like this one, they have to constantly adjust to changing conditions that could be a myriad of things. I would expect that things will probably be back to normal already.

I've had this happen to me. Before the show it was announced that a possible storm in the area may change things and/or possibly shut them down. Sure enough not too long into the show they announce that due to lightning the rest of the performance is cancelled.

They did not however announce as we were leaving the theater they would be setting off the already set up pyro (for safety reasons) and everyone jumped a mile in the air. :ROFLOL:

I saw one performance where Indy jumped around on stage, shot a gun at the airplane, blew it up with the girl inside, then he climbed up the ramp where the big ball rolls down, and with all his might threw it at the director and smashed him. True story.

PS then Tow Mater came out and said "Getter dumb!" and then Indy picked up the ball (with smushed director guts) and crushed Mater! It was amazing!

We saw the full show in July. I love Indy but it is time for them to replace the show with the ride from DL. HS needs another high capacity ride and this would be a perfect fit.
