Does anyone know how it will affect the memories projection show on the castle? This show looks great on the internet. It began after our last visit and it was one of the most anticipated events of our October trip right next to Star Tours. Fingers crossed they can do it on top of lights. Thanks

I feared the same thing. My family are I are visiting WDW in October as well and this is also one of our main interests this trip. Fingers crossed that the magic isn't ruined. :)

well that was fast. Isn't it kind of early this year?

Seems like Steve really stepped in there yesterday and gave them the ole 1-2... "you are not cancelling the Dreamlights and to prove it to everyone you will announce the crane onsite to begin installation tomorrow"

Looking back through the site news from last year, there is a post about the dreamlights being installed on Septeber 17th, so yes it is much earlier this year.

No, its pretty much the same time. They have a longer period budgeted, probably to make sure the lights don't interfere with MMY. Last year it was Sept 17th to 23rd.

From the article

This year the crane for the Magic Kingdom's castle dreamlights installation is currently scheduled to be on-site from September 12 to September 26 2011

The had the crane gone on our trip last year but when we went in September of 2007, the crane was down pretty much every time we were in the park. I don't know if they were just working night shift, but even though it was there, it was lowered.

The crane started putting up the Dreamlights in Aug. of '09 - now that's early!!!

It's a big crane, most likely gonna be in all the castle pictures!

Well I suppose I can always and look at the other cranes in Fantasyland if I get bored of the one at the castle. :lookaroun

I hate the crane too but it's not the worst thing in the "World"! And they usually have it down by mid-afternoon (2 or 3pm)! So, wait to take your Castle pics until later in the day! :animwink:

It's seems it's always there for our annual trip in Sept.
I haven't had a crane-free picture for a long time...........

Get creative with your angles, and you can make it look like it was never there. It also means you don't take that same castle shot that you get each year!

This is so very true. We've been there with the crane enough times, it really isn't as bothersome as you might expect. And, in the grand scheme of things, just remember you are in the happiest place on earth and a crane does not change that! Just go with the flow ;)

The crane is some 3000 miles away from Disneyland.

My mistake, that's what I get for not reading the article carefully! I thought it meant that it was already on site.
