Best strawberry shortcake on the planet! My only regret was that is wasn't served in a take out container so I could take it with me. My nephew10 was chosen to perform in the final skit and we were so busy watching and laughing at him that I only took about 5 bites and the show was over and they were cleaning up getting ready for the next seating.

The ribs are "meh" in my opinion...they used to be better. The cornbread is fab and the Strawberry Shortcake is crack-a-licious!! :slurp::slurp::slurp:

The Strawberry Shortcake is what keeps me coming back.

We ate there last summer and the food was excellent, but we asked for a second bucket of ribs and they were very dry and hard. The first bucket was really tender and juicy so I guess we just got a bad one the second time around.

Ate at both the Hoop Dee Doo and the Polynesian Luau last month, and the food at the Luau was significantly better, despite being essentially just chicken and ribs at both shows.

Hoop Dee Doo's ribs were dry, tough, and crusted with far too much dry rub to be enjoyable and the fried chicken was mushy from sitting too long.

The shortcake and cornbread were great, though and I really enjoyed the show. I'd look forward to going back, but it would be despite the food, not because of it.

I've had the exact opposite experience that wolf had. I really loved the food at Hoop Dee Doo and I thought the food at the Luau (Aside from the bread) was only so so.

But I guess you can crack that up to inconsistency.

I have done Hoop Dee Doo 7 times and it is by far the best dinner show on property in my opinion.

Food is great - and to be expected when you have 'finger foods'
Must be something to it since it is the longest running show in the park and people keep coming back.

I try to get there ever other year.

It is a fun, fun, fun, fun time.

All of the food there is outrageously good. I didn't try the vegetables or the beans, but the mashed potatoes, ribs and chicken are phenomenal.

The food is pretty good. The show is what makes it a "must-do" for us.

If you have a vegetarian in your party, just let them know ahead of time. The chef checks with you before the meal and prepares something wonderful.

Sorry to those who love the strawberry shortcake, but we don't like it. It's too sweet and, for lack of a better word, "fake" tasting.
We take a couple of spoonfuls and leave the rest.

The chicken, cornbread, and strawberry shortcake were excellent.

The ribs, every time I've gone, have been awful. Dried out and hard.

The unlimited drinks remain the best part.

Update: We went to the HDD this past Monday evening and, as usual, had a great time.

We told our server that we didn't want more than 1 serving of the strawberry shortcake for our party of six. He informed us that it had was not the same recipe as in the past. I am happy to report that the new version is better. We still didn't need more than one dish for the six of us, but it did taste better than the old recipe.
