Just back - Some random thoughts

I am with everyone else here. People are pigs and they don't care about anyone but themselves. They also are disrespectful and rude. I was there in March and this adult was kicking the wall inside POTC for no reason. If he wasn't twice my size I woud have given him what for. While I was on POTC cast members kept saying about no flash photography but people don't listen. The garbage issue is bad but with the volume of people CMs can't begin to keep up. Guests need to be more responsible. I am going back in September to celebrate Halloween since DL is closing POTC for a major refurb. from Labor Day through Thanksgiving. I understand the crowds will be better At WDW then. I sure hope so. The heat and rain might kill me though. :)

The problems being mentioned, trash, flashes, and moving to the end of a row, are all about people being disrespectful or just plain lazy. This is not WDW's fault, but society's. I know in my family of six, we do our part to adhere to the rules. If only other people did this! t's not that hard. QUIT BEING LAZY! That should be the sign at the entrance to the parks.:ROFLOL:

True, but Disney could step up to the plate in regards to some issues. We were walking behind one guy smoking a cigarette. I don't care, but I don't want my kids breathing in smoke. He walked right past 3 CM, one who was a supervisor or manager. They said nothing to him. I walked up to the supervisor/manager and said "Should I go up to that guy and tell him he's smoking in a non-designated area?" He says "I'll go tell him. A lot of our guests don't know where the smoking areas are."

Sorry pal - That's an excuse. Stop being lazy and do your job. I'd rather have a CM stop a ride in the middle and say it will not continue until there is no more flash photos, and anyone caught taking them will be removed from the park. But again, it all comes down to the almighty dollar, and Disney cares more about that than their guests. Of course as a company, they should, but at the same time, they need to step up and protect their reputation.

i agree with some that you said. we did 2 trips this summer (the last a quick drive which i posted already) and i agree the parks were very crowded. we like to start early, go to the resort to rest midday, then head back in after dinner. at times, i couldn't wait to get out of the parks!!! i found us rushing to beat the tour groups into lines, and waiting for them to count was crazy. we just watched the opening at MK, watched as our kids were pushed aside so they could make a bridge and have all of them walk under to count. are you serious? if you have seen that show and know how crowded it is, this is no place to count 50 plus!!! But they did. could not believe how easy it was to get reservations. we had NO problems. almost every sit down was open for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. i guess the lack of free dining helps.

We will be leaving tomorrow for two great weeks in our favorite vacation desyination so I'll be able to see for myself if it's gotten worse. We were there in '09 and saw all the same things everyonr talked about above.
I have to say that the trash does ruin the Disney experience. Its Disney its not supposed to be dirty. I spend soooo much money for all of my family to go, I know I don't want to see the place all littered-up.
Yes, society is to blame. Take a look at all the litter along any highway.
I think that some of the trash problems could be stopped by a CM making an example of one of the most eggregious offenders and ask them to clean up their mess. Hopefully the people watching will take the hint.
There have been times when, after seeing some one throw something on the ground I will pick it up, go to them and say, "Here, you dropped this." I think they get the idea. I hate it when others have to ruin the few weeks I get to be with my family and enjoy WDW. I've been going since December of '71.

To the OP, for all of those reasons, I have sadly become sorta disenchanted with the most enchanting place on Earth. We were APs for years but gave them up a little over 2 years ago and frankly haven't really missed it. It gave us the oppertunity to discover and fall in love with the "other" parks. I don't see the "i paid tons of money so make my freakin vacation magial" attitude at US, SW, or BG, but more of a relaxed and ready to have a good time attitude. There are minimal ECVs plowing thru the crowds, and people seen alltogether in a better mood. We have decided to venture back to Disney for a week in Nov, hopefully the holidays will help people be kinder, but if not, I know we will still have a great vacation:king:

First post here. Have to been to WDW over 15 times but just stumbled upon this site looking to score big points on Toy Story Mania while in disney on my phone....anyways just returned from Disney last night. I have to agree with you on multiple points.

My family usually goes in the late august early september time and the parks are usually much much less crowded. It was ridiculous this past week and weekend.

The brazilian tour groups where horrible i have had run ins with them in the past. Two things that kill me are how they all stop right outside a ride and basically create a a human blockade. I saw CMs numerous times telling them to move. Also about the brazillian children tour groups that erks me a bit is how the young girls in this groups seem to shed their clothes as the day goes on. Usually by about 4 or 5pm they have their short hiked so far up there bums and their shirts basically off showing their bras, etc... and then they are always hanging all over each other... oh well

As usual there were many rude and ludicrous people in the parks, i saw one family through a fit because when leaving the MK they had to walk though the main exit and not the CM exit closer to the buses, they were proclaiming that only disney employees were allowed connivence. I calmly went up to the woman and said with the amount of energy you are wasting arguing about where you want to exit you would be at the buses by now... she just gave me a scowl as i turned away and entered the park

I just returned from a week @ WDW ...identical thoughts/experiences as captainkidd :( My DH is a school teacher & this was the only time we could go. We will NOT be returning next summer! I am very close to finding a new "Happy Place" ...tis sad because I love WDW ... this trip was our worst!

We are going again Sept. 30th to Oct 3rd (already planned & majority paid for/non-refundable). HOPING we recooperate/rejuvenate before our next trip because honestly ... we are dreading it

I'm going to look into Disney cruises

We've been at the end of Spet. before and it was great, low crowds and awesome weather! However this year may be a bit busier with the 40th happening and all. Still should be a much better experience then middle of July.

Interesting answer to my first post  I suppose everyone started at 1 post didn't you?

All the poster said was that 2 out of 10 spoke English. He or she did not say there was anything wrong with that or that they should learn English, just stated a perception. Why argue with someone's perception? Don't jump to conclusions. Plus, we are on this site to discuss all things WDW, not politics or political stances. By the way, politics are not permitted on these forums. Get to know the folks here, whether you agree with them or not, they are all nice folks.

Thanks for posting this. If someone who has been there 30 times states that "The parks all looked great" and "Main Street U.S.A. hasn't looked this good in years.", that's a very positive thing imho.

Tour Groups

We just returned from a 10 day trip on the 24th of July. I have to agree that the Brazilian tour groups are to say the least out of control. We were in the tree of life when a group of them starting chanting at the top of their lungs. My 5 year old actually got scared of them. I asked at CM to speak to their leader. He followed that with calling me out to a fight.....He actually wanted to square off right at the entrance of Bugs life..............I took the high road and walked away as he was escorted out.

Call it a little victory for those of use who respect the fact that there are about 20000 other people in the park.

I sure hope that disney does something about this. It almost ruined a summer vacation.

Good for you! It's not much but it IS something. I'm glad you stood up for the rest of us. Thank you.

We were there July 6th-12th, and wow those Brazilian tour groups were something else. As obnoxious as they were, we spent more time laughing about the insanity of the situation than actually letting it bother us. I guess it's hard to upset us when we're in the World. =]

The parks were definitely really crowded (and the 30,000 Brazilian teenagers didn't help). The problem is being college students, we pretty much are forced to go during peak season. I think in the future though, we'll try and go mid-May or early June for our summer trip.

The flash thing is a HUGE pet peeve of me and my boyfriend. The worst thing is that aside from being completely obnoxious, it's entirely unneccesary most of the time that people use it. Using your flash to take a picture of fireworks is only going to light up the heads in front of you. Ohhh people.

Think for yourselfer
You have hit on the 3 things about WDW that drive me nuts.

1. Tour Groups. I will never go back to WDW in the summer because of them. And my wife is a teacher, so that is the best time for us. But I would rather have to squeeze in shorter trips then head back with tour groups running rampant.

2. Flash on the rides. I can not remember the last time I got on a dark ride and didn't have to say something to someone about using their flash. I think using flash on a dark ride should be grounds for expulsion. I know that is not going to happen. But it should. I am getting aggravated right now just thinking about it.

3. Garbage in the queues. I guess the only way to combat this would be to outlaw eating or drinking once past a certain point. Maybe Disney should do that.

Those are the three things that really take me out of the magic while I am in the parks. Most everything else is anywhere from awesomely wonderful, to perfectly acceptable.

I agree. And to make it crystal clear, have a sign and announcement as you board the ride in both English and Portugese.

I couldn't agree more! QUIT BEING LAZY!
We follow the rules and WALKED OVER MANY people who stopped in the middle of the row!
Follow instructions ... Move to the end of the row OR we will have to step on you ...geez

Definitely! Also pass on by those people who feel the need to sit on the rails in the que.

Wow...we must have lucked out! We just returned on Sunday night after 9 pretty great days!! We went in for every EMH....and never waited longer then 20 minutes for a ride (except TSM at HS)!! We figured out our FP situation and, for example, did the normal Small World and Snow White while we waited for our Peter Pan FP. Getting into the parks at night was like swimming upstream, but then when we got to the lands, they were pretty open.
We actually enjoyed our trip more last week then our week in March-on that trip we had several rides break down, long lines, and not alot of EMH. We even had two FULL DAYS of rain...and I mean, from sunup to sundown with lightening and thunder and wind!!
This trip, every park seemed to be in great working order (rides, lights, soundtracks-we felt like we could even hear the dialogue more clearly in Pirates)!!
The trash throughout the park is a shame. I can never imagine who throws it down in the middle of the park-because I've never seen ANYONE throw trash in front of me. It really is pure laziness since Disney goes out of there way to have trash cans EVERY 20 FEET...even in the lines!!
And I would agree that the Brazilian tour groups are obnoxious and attention seeking!! Again, we got lucky, because they were always coming in when we were leaving, or leaving when we were coming!!
I was very anxious about going this time of year and we really enjoyed it. The weather last week was gorgeous and the late hours at the park gave us plenty of time to hang out at the pool and then take a nap before we returned to the parks for the night hours.
And on a side note, the other great perk of Disney in the summer, is the pooltime fun!! Every afternoon we spent 2 to 3 hours at the pool, and our kids loved the games, contests, and dancing. The evening movie and firepit was also a wonderful addition.
I can only guess that since I was so sure it was going to be a rough trip with the heat and the crowds, that it turned out to be not as crazy as I thought!!
This was my 12th trip in 8 years, and I fell in love with the parks all over again!!:sohappy:
