Bus Stop at Values....SHADE!!!!!

I remember last time we were at POP...while waiting in line for busit was EXTREMELY hot in the July Sun. Why can't Disney put a covering at these stops like they do at most other resorts. Yes there is shade where you sit near doors BUT when there are lots people and you are in line its brutal, especially if you are waiting 15-20 min...Is it that difficult to put canopy?

I'm sure that it would not be a difficult venture. Perhaps you and others could write to the appropriate people at Disney. There must be a point in which they get the hint and respond with actions.

While it seems like a small difference when booking, it really is nice to have covered seating at the deluxes while you wait for a bus.

This was my ONLY complaint about Pop. Last time we were there was Labor Day week in 2009, I would get in the bus line with the stroller and DH and 2 boys would wait off to side in the shade. When bus came they'd jump in line with me. I wasn't the only one doing it this way. I didn't mind the sun for a few minutes, but come on it's Florida there should be shade any place you have guests waiting for transportation, especially in the summer months. All the higher up resorts have shade.

I know Movies and Music have a place you can stand under covering with fans right next to the stops. It connects to the big letters spelling out ALL-STAR. Those are the only two value resorts I've stayed at, but even with those it gets pretty brutal in the Florida heat.

If memory serves the letters are next to the bus stop not actually at the bus stop so if there's a crowd you HAVE to get in line where there's no shade

People who are frugal and those with a less fortunate economic status deserve a little shade from the hot Florida sun like any other humans in the species. In my opinion value guests are already treated like second-class citizens. There are plenty of other ways Disney can differentiate value resorts from the moderate and deluxe resorts without the use of corporal punishment.

Yes, just a bit off to the side, the line to one of the stops starts right in front but still uncovered. It is a pain to actually wait in line, but if you're lucky to not have a line (or at least a short line) than you can at least wait under there and walk over to the line when you see the bus pull around. They really should do something about all that though, my sun tan lotion is all gone by the time I get to the parks after waiting in those lines.

This is one of the reasons we've avoided the Values. Seriously though... I'm kind of shocked that they haven't added covered/sheltered bus stops. I know it costs $, but shelter from the sun/elements is a health and safety concern- not a "perk." Plus people who are on the verge of heat stroke aren't likely to spend any $ either.

Well that's a bit extreme. I don't remember being forced into the salt mines on the way to my pool.

However I do feel that covered parking would be a rather remarkable addition to the bus situation at POP. Nothing worse than just standing there dripping with sweat hoping for a bit of a breeze while waiting for the bus. :D

There is such a huge bump up from Value level to Moderate. You get so few "simple things" at a Value that we choose to pass on them most every time.

Heck, we even started doing our Sr Class Trips at Caribbean Beach instead of Movies...for 50bucks more total per student, our kids are given such a better experience at Caribbean Beach.

Which is funny because I felt like out of all the Mods, the CBR was most like the value in terms of being corralled when it comes to the transportation. Seems like it has the longest lins of people waiting every time. I was not pleased with that resort at all vs the amount spent to stay there.

I'm fascinated. PLEASE share your opinion about how Value resort guests are supposedly treated like second-class citizens.

I've usually stayed at Moderate resorts. I don't consider myself treated like a second-class citizen at a Moderate when I compare with how Deluxe guests are treated (having also stayed at a Deluxe once).

It is true that the more you pay, the more amenities you get. This is to be expected, isn't it? When I go to McDonald's, I don't expect linen napkins and I don't expect metal utensils and I don't expect a doorman to hold the door open for me as I walk in and out and I don't expect a server to bring me my food. I also don't expect the food to be especially tasty or nutritious.

But guess what. I CHOSE to eat at McDonald's. No one forced me to eat there. No one relegated me to second-class status, I CHOSE to eat there. Sure, if I look down the block to a fancy seafood restaurant, I might long to eat there instead. Or I might not. It depends on why I chose McD's in the first place.

When I choose to pay more, I expect more. If I'm paying $50 per person for dinner, I won't stand for paper napkins and greasy sandwiches, and I won't stand for the utter indignity of having to open the door for myself. :ROFLOL:

So why is it so wrong for Disney to offer differential amenities at different price points? There are numerous differences between Values and Moderates. These include room size, pool slides, pool towels, hot tubs, Bell Services, table-service restaurants, the number of sinks in the room, ceiling fans, the covered bus stops, and probably some other things I'm forgetting.

Outside of the resort properties themselves, I can't fathom a single way in which Value guests are treated differently than Moderate or Deluxe guests. There's no difference in admission to the parks, use of FASTPASS in the parks, use of Downtown Disney, and so on.

So how ARE Value guests treated like second-class citizens? In my opinion, they're not, but I'm curious to read your opinion.

Bravo.

I think it's great that Disney even has value resorts available. There were no such resorts when I was growing up, and thus my family could not afford to go. My first trip was as an adult. If staying there makes people uncomfortable then they could opt for staying off-property for the same price with better amenities. Personally, I like having different levels of resorts. It gives me dreams to shoot for that someday I'll stay in all of the Deluxes.

That has not been our experience. Stinks you weren't pleased, because it really is a great place to stay.

1. Safety
2. Courtesy
3. Show
4. Efficiency

It's not something that's a perk, like having a TS restaurant at the resort or a themed pool or a Photopass kiosk. It's courtesy that all guests deserve.
