New Star Tours...worth it?

We are visiting next week and enjoy the more popular attractions at HS. We usually go right for TSMM but also like to hit ToT and RnRC. How do we fit all this in during early morning touring as we will not be there all day? We did Star Tours before the refurb but now we are wondering if it is a must see on this trip.

Definitely a must see, in fact you may want to ride more than once to try and get the different sequences.

Honestly? If you had to leave one out, forget TSMM, its hardly worth the hassle.

Well if you're planning on going to HS early in the morning I would say definitely head to TSMM and get that out of the way because the line is going to get longer and longer as the day goes on. I went to HS on 6/1 around 5:30 pm and it wasn't even a 10 minute wait for Star Tours. Yes I would definitely say it's a must visit especially if you like Star Wars . . . the new version is much better. If it were me I would hit TSMM, then RnRC, followed by ToT, then back to Star Tours. I know it's backtracking to go from TSMM then to RnRC/ToT and back to Star Tours, but that's what I would do if I was visiting HS as you said you're going to, but that's me and I almost always go solo.

Must see only if the line is 5 or 10 minutes or so. Chances are, you'll like it and want to ride it again to do the 'randomness' and if you wasted a good 30 minutes in line and waste another good 30 and get the exact same ride through, well that's just a big waste. I'd get a fastpass for it at least, so you can ride it twice maybe back to back.

Thanks for the tip, as we were not planning to see the new version on our upcoming trip as we didn't think it was worth it.

Question - What does "randomness" mean? I haven't had a chance to read about this ride since it was redone so I'm confused.

There are 54 different possible trips you can take from what I read in the D23 magazine.

I would suggest going to TSMM first and grabbing a FP.
Then head down Sunset to hit up ToT and RnRC (single rider in RnRC goes through crazy fast at the beginning of the day)
Then go back to Star Tours and get a FP. (or ride if lines are low)
Ride TSMM w/1st FP
eat lunch/catch a show/great movie ride
Ride Star Tours w/2nd FP

Easily be able to be out of the park after lunch if you so desire.

Why would you consider leaving anything out? Take your time and enjoy the park, you can see everything in HS in 4-5 hours.

People always say that, but to really see the major things would be a problem in 4 to 5 hours. Unless the park is absolutely DEAD that day.

Lights Motors Action is a good 1 hour experience in terms of getting in, seeing the show and getting out. Indy is about the same, so plug in Beauty and the Beast, and you are looking at roughly 3 hours minimum just for shows. Then factor in Muppets, Great Movie Ride, Star Tours all on standby, thats a good 2 hours there. Then throw in ToT, RnR, TSM, being optimistic, that's 2 hours. Then some of the smaller shows like Mermaid, Idol, the parade, some meet and greets - easily a couple of hours there. factor in food, and then of course Fantasmic. It's a 7 to 8 hour day to see most of what is on offer on a typical day in my opinion :)

Thanks for all of the great advice. It looks like we will definitely be trying it out. I am hoping we have time for almost everything. We will also be visiting HS in the evening one day and are hoping to take care of some of the small attractions then and leave the major rides for early morning.

My next question is in regards to the intensity of the ride. It has been years since we have been on it and our kids were too young then. They are ten now so they should be fine as they go on most everything. I am a bit worried about grandma though. How would you rate it in terms of intensity?

I didn't find it the least bit intense.

I guess I was basing my time off exactly what you said, the last time we went the park was pretty slow.
