Daily Walt Disney Weather For You!

Hey guys I posted this over at the DIS boards earlier, but I thought I'd try to make some new friends here as well!

Anyway, long time lurker but somehow FIRST time poster (pats self on back)! I've never really had a reason to post, but I've used these forums as a way to get a little happiness out of my day as I read about all the great experiences people have while enjoying their passion of Walt Disney World!

I love exchanging stories with people who practically live inside Cinderella's castle and come every other day and I really adore hearing about the excitement of first time visitors (especially the look of complete exhaustion in their eyes after day 4).

So why am I posting now? Well I've been in the TV biz for way too many years and am a certified broadcast meteorologist. I've been on national and local TV. So what am I getting at exactly? Well I'm not sure why it took me so long to think of this - but why not use my talents for good?!

Whether you live in or around the Orlando area or are visiting for the 1st or 100th time ... EVERYONE needs to know the weather throughout the day to better strategically plan their visit!

So while I have my own Twitter account I decided to create one especially for you guys to let you know what the weather will be like during your visit. In the summer when it's severe thunderstorm season I'll try to keep you ahead of the storm but letting you know when the heavens will open (for 20 minutes of course). I'll also share some weather facts (like today the record high is 89 for MCO and we will be flirting with it) and even post some Disney/Weather pics as I get them.

I dunno, maybe you will find it useful, maybe you won't ... but I figure since I look at forecast models and radar everyday anyway - why not share it quicker and in a more timely fashion than you can ever receive from the local news outlets in the area.

So follow me on Twitter at - WDW_Weather (Not sure I'll make a Facebook page for it but who knows) - figure I'll start out easy:

(I can't post the link here yet because I'm brand new but just follow me @WDW_Weather)

Say hello and if you are in the area and have pics to share - @reply me and I'll retweet them for everyone else...we're one big happy (some might call us insane) family anyway right?

Hope to meet some of you soon (and sorry it took me so long to at least introduce myself) :-),
Jeff

Well thanks so much for the enthusiasm :-)! I may or may not have worked for TWC ... ;-)! You will just have to wait and see if I actually start the video forecasts! Thanks again ... I figure this is a way to show my love for disney and knowledge of weather! Have a great weekend!

Perfect day (week) to start following WDW_Weather!

Hey guys I just wanted to thank you new followers after only a couple of days. I'm still getting the hang of writing concise 140 character weather tweets, but yesterday would have been a prime example why I hope you will find what I'm trying to do useful. I was all over the radar yesterday looking for severe weather - while there was cloud to ground lightning there wasn't anything specifically "severe"...this Twitter feed will become more valuable as we enter the summer rainy season and you guys start coming down here for summer family vacations.

Let me know what you would like to see - I'm trying to come up with events that require weather information ... for example the Braves game being cancelled yesterday.

I plan on starting :60 video forecasts from in and around the parks on certain days and "Laughing Place" is going to let me go over 140 characters as I start writing longer range forecasts for them.

So thanks for the nice Direct Messages and the welcome to the forum :-)!

Have a great day,
WDW_Weather

I'm heading over to The Wave for breakfast and may try to beat some showers at the new Haunted Mansion queue! Give a shout if you ever need a forecast!

So - would any of us recognize you from TV? I'm thinking of a weather guy named Jeff - but your profile description as "part time" weather guy implies you're not him. Maybe you know who I'm talking about...

Wow!! we had some really bad weather that just passed through the New Orleans area tonight... Me and the family just gotten back from Walmart and no sooner as we pulled up in to our drive way it came down really bad. Hail and the wind was rocking us back and forth. Glad that is over with.

I was thinking of Jeff Day on Brighthouse channel 13.

Anyway, good luck with your twitter thing. Seems like it could be a useful tool for someone traveling in the resort with just a mobile phone for information - though it seems like you're going to be spending about a third of the year tied to your TV or computer waiting to see what's going to happen next...

As I work on the railway I get very reasonable travel to Disneyland Paris, it seems rude not to take advantage of it - and it keeps us going between WDW trips.

If there's anything you want to know, just let me know.
