Hey guys I posted this over at the DIS boards earlier, but I thought I'd try to make some new friends here as well!
Anyway, long time lurker but somehow FIRST time poster (pats self on back)! I've never really had a reason to post, but I've used these forums as a way to get a little happiness out of my day as I read about all the great experiences people have while enjoying their passion of Walt Disney World!
I love exchanging stories with people who practically live inside Cinderella's castle and come every other day and I really adore hearing about the excitement of first time visitors (especially the look of complete exhaustion in their eyes after day 4).
So why am I posting now? Well I've been in the TV biz for way too many years and am a certified broadcast meteorologist. I've been on national and local TV. So what am I getting at exactly? Well I'm not sure why it took me so long to think of this - but why not use my talents for good?!
Whether you live in or around the Orlando area or are visiting for the 1st or 100th time ... EVERYONE needs to know the weather throughout the day to better strategically plan their visit!
So while I have my own Twitter account I decided to create one especially for you guys to let you know what the weather will be like during your visit. In the summer when it's severe thunderstorm season I'll try to keep you ahead of the storm but letting you know when the heavens will open (for 20 minutes of course). I'll also share some weather facts (like today the record high is 89 for MCO and we will be flirting with it) and even post some Disney/Weather pics as I get them.
I dunno, maybe you will find it useful, maybe you won't ... but I figure since I look at forecast models and radar everyday anyway - why not share it quicker and in a more timely fashion than you can ever receive from the local news outlets in the area.
So follow me on Twitter at - WDW_Weather (Not sure I'll make a Facebook page for it but who knows) - figure I'll start out easy:
(I can't post the link here yet because I'm brand new but just follow me @WDW_Weather)
Say hello and if you are in the area and have pics to share - @reply me and I'll retweet them for everyone else...we're one big happy (some might call us insane) family anyway right?
Hope to meet some of you soon (and sorry it took me so long to at least introduce myself)
,
Jeff
