I was scouring the net for retro Disney shirts as it's been a while since I've seen a cool shirt i'd want to buy at DL/WDW these days. (i'm kinda sick of the retro mickey thing), Anyways I came across this amazing shirt I hope they sell at the parks one day.

I found out that the shirt is a design from the designerland blog which is pretty awesome, full of cool designs and fonts.

I wish they'd sell stuff like this in the parks, It's been a while since I've purchased anything, to be honest. But i'd buy these shirts in a heartbeat. thoughts?

How can I go about getting one of your shirts? My boyfriend and I are both graphic designers with a passions for screen printing. Your designs are great! I would love to buy one to wear!

I prefer not to buy the generic tees that disney has been selling for the last decade plus. I bought the monorail por favor tee and two retro epcot shirts.

Disney's designs for tees have gotten better with the retro stuff, but it is a crutch to fall back onto, which is why I love my monorail shirt.

It is sad some of what they push:

Way too 80's and counter what EPCOT is about

Anyone else get an Ed Hardy vibe?

Geared towards the dads that still wear the big dog t-shirts

True retro could be looked at as a crutch but for me I grew up in that time frame so my memories of WDW all are what you call retro. Not to mention the designing was better back then. Stylistically and creatively. And that haunted mansion shirt is more Affliction than Ed Hardy.

So much better it is associated with Affliction.

I don't have a problem with some of the retro shirts they have released but they should be working on better designs that capture the spirit of the attraction/character and also not looking like passe trends.

I love the images that you have designed because the shirts are based on what disney has done before and also keeps to the spirit of the parks. We won't classics like these in 20 years if disney does not improve what they are producing.

LOL. They must think all Mansion Lovers are from Jersey Shore! Hahaha!

Even though they're just theme park shirts and not McQueen or Gaultier haute couture they still are considered fashion so being en pointe with trends is okay but when those trends become passe or cliche it looks dated and will do nothing but collect dust on the shelf.

Yeah my designs are all based around the concept of a disney dork (like myself) going into a thrift store and finding forgotten shirts from back in the day. Vintage and lots of wear and tear!

Well it matters what the fashion they are trying to emulate. The Ed Hardy look was kind of popular for a little, until a certain demographic embraced it. Right now, there is not really a prevalent fashion style that would be easy to copy. Disney does have a large ip library to ue.

I believe the merchandising department/Yellow Shoes uses it (resource cafe) but I don't think they rely on it. it's very true, disney does have tons of ip to use and if they just went back and dug deep into the archives I'm sure they could find some amazing designs and artwork to reuse and or incorporate.

Then again I have seen some portfolios of designers who have interned in the marketing department as designers at WDW and let's just say that those style guides probably saved their lives because their design skills were still very much green.
