Annual Pass first time use

I have finally made the decision to go for the AP and wanted to check and see if there was any type of grace period between when you purchase and when you can start using it. If I walk up to a ticket center and buy an AP, can I use it that day? I assume you would be able to because it should act just like a regular day ticket, right? Just wanted to make sure.

On a side note; with the Florida resident AP that you pay monthly, do you have to stretch out payments through the whole 12 months or can it be paid off sooner?

Don't know the answer to the payment schedule, but when we bought our APs, it was done by mail, months before our trip. We were sent vouchers good for an annual pass, which we redeemed the first day we arrived on site. So if you're buying an AP onsite, you'll just be bypassing the need for the voucher, and you'll be given a pass good for use starting that day. I'd think the real problem is if you're on site, want to buy an annual pass, but don't want to start using it right away, so you don't want to start burning days on it you're not using. In which case, I guess they'd either offer you a voucher, or tell you to wait to buy it until the first day you want to start using it.

I didn't knwo there was a payment plan for Fl residents. I want to get APs for my family. Do you know what the monthly cost is? and does that apply to the military AP rate for Fl residents?

Buying an AP is the same as walking up and buying any other ticket. Takes the same amount of time and the ticket media is the same except that it is good for a year from the first use.

Actually, that's the big difference, an AP is good for 366 days from purchase. Vouchers are good to delay your 'purchase' until you redeem them and then the actual AP is good for 366 days.

Regular MYW tickets are purchasable in advance of use and are good for 14 days from first use [unless the no expire option is purchased before the end of that 14-day window]. You canm buy a 10-day MYW ticket at today's prices and it will still be valid twenty years from now it you haven't used it. Similarly an AP voucher locks in current pricing until it's redeemed.

The AP Fl resident is what we have and did the monthly plan thing. It is all spelled out on their website and is simple as pie to do. I just signed up online, and you print your receipt and mini-loan doc. Then when I went to the Park I just stopped at the ticket window and they issued the ticket. Go to the WDW website, click on tickets, and then click on Florida residents. All the info is there. And yes, you can pay it up sooner and there is no interest charged. We were so glad to see this option!

Yes that is true, but you are going to wait in the same line to redeem the voucher and I always thought it was easier to just purchase the AP the first day that you are going to enter the parks. Buying the voucher is just and extra step in the process.

You're right though, the only time that I would buy a voucher is as hedge against a known pending price increase.

My fiancé and I went to downtown and bought ours then went to epoct less than an hour later. So yes you can buy it that same day. And yes you can pay it off sooner.

So where do I go to buy it? Just the area at the front of MK?

Any ticket window at any of the 4 parks, or at Downtown Disney.

If you're upgrading a ticket to an AP, you'll need to visit guest relations at any of the 4 parks or Downtown Disney.

Yeah, unfortunately it's luck-of-the-draw as to which is next on the big roll of tickets in the machine.

Is it a paper ticket like the regular day passes or is it a credit card type like the resort key? It seems like a paper ticket could get pretty beat up over the course of a year.

This is correct. My non-FL resident Annual Pass has the expiration date printed on the backside which is exactly one year after the day that I purchased it at Downtown Disney guest relations. I have Goofy on the front of my AP and so did two of my friends who have FL resident APs.

My non-FL resident AP is paper just like most of the other tickets. I've seen credit card type tickets but I'm not sure how to get those. My friends who have the FL resident AP's have the same type paper ticket as I do. I agree with you, I thought the exact same thing when they gave me my AP, but surprisingly it's held up pretty good. Some of the ink is starting to fade a little bit on the backside and the corners are starting to fade as well. I've been surprised that it's held up as good as it has considering I've used the heck out of it. I know for a fact I went to WDW anywhere from 25-30 times this past year and it's been in and out of my wallet multiple as I park hop a good bit, get fast passes, and AP discounts at Downtown Disney.
