Any word yet on when this resort is supposed to be done? I know, 2012, but what part of 2012? We take our annual trip in April, so I was hoping when we go next year, it would be done in time for us to stay there.

They keep saying summer of 2012 on their website. April might be a bit early, but I'm sure they will put out an exact date shortly so people will start making reservations.

I highly doubt it will be open in early 2012. They haven't even started constructing the new buildings when I was there over the New Year. It look like they did have some foundations poured and basically had been working on the buildings that were already there and getting those back in shape. I wouldn't be shocked if those had to be completely gutted on the inside because of how long they have stood empty.

Drat, that will be the first trip that we'll be taking our daughter, so it will be us and both of our children. I thought it would be nice to get one of those brand new family suites to fit the four of us in, but I guess I'll just have to think of someplace else. Perhaps the Ft Wilderness Cabins, as we've wanted to stay there for quite some time, too!

I thought I heard August 2012...But I could just be thinking its coming at the same time as Fantasyland Expansion....

Anyone know when you will be likely to book there? Would it be in August 2011 when the room rates for 2012 come out??

Is this going to just be an expansion of Pop or is it a seperate value? Staying in a brand new resort/room would be pretty cool.

We stayed at the family suite in ASMu a couple of years ago and the rooms were so spacious...it was great. We loved how everyone had their own beds and 2 bathrooms was very handy when showering in the morning. The kitchenette was also a big help. Heating up leftover food in the morcowave at night was nice. We always have to have a fridge for water and kids drinks, too.

They haven't announced anything specific about exact opening dates or when they'll start taking reservations.

Also, they may open it in phases, a few buildings at a time. That's what the plans was when Pop Century Classic Years and Legendary Years were originally supposed to open.

The original dates, as announced before construction was halted, were supposed to go like this (according to AllEars):
1950s - March 8, 2002
1960s - March 8, 2002
1970s - May 5, 2002
1980s - August 18, 2002
1990s - August 18, 2002

1940s - November 29, 2002
1930s - February 14, 2003
1920s - April 21, 2003
1910s - August 2, 2003
1900s - August 2, 2003

Actual opening of Classic Years (which I think they may have just opened the whole thing at once) was December 2003. They started taking reservations in April 2003.

So I'd bet we'll see reservations starting to be taken in very early 2012, with at least half the resort opened up on opening day (my guess is everything north of the main building will open first).

The following link at All Ears has photos of the 4 areas. http://allears.net/acc/faq_artan.htm

Am I looking at it correctly that the Little Mermaid section has the railings and will be from the existing old buildings? The other 3 areas looks like the hallways will be on the inside and do not show any railings.

Any thoughts?

It looks like Little mermaid and cars wont have the inside hallways(might be looking at it wrong).

Nemo is definitely inside hallways and from the image it looks like lion king is too

I'm still not sure if inside hallways have 100% been confirmed. While there are definitely windows-only facing the main courtyards for 3 of the 4 sections, it was put forward that it's still possible that they'll be "shotgun" style with exterior walkways on the side away from the courtyards, and the two rooms arranged front/back and not side-by-side.

Until construction gets going on the new buildings, I don't know if we'll be able to know for-sure.

Back to the topic of when it will be opening, According to DisneyWorld.com, Under Art of Animation Resort it says:

It's now listed in the value resort selections on diseyworld.com and has it's own page. All your questions can be answered there and if it's not there, it's not confirmed yet, most likely.
