Suggestions for surprise on my wife's birthday at WDW?

Hi folks,

Only 10 days until my wife and I leave for WDW! A big motivation for taking the trip at this time was to celebrate my wife's 28th birthday (Thurs., Jan. 6). Obviously, Disney makes every birthday special, but I'm looking for a little something extra to do for her that day, either in coordination with Disney or on my own. It doesn't have to be expensive (probably better if it isn't because we're pretty tapped out from paying for the trip and Christmas presents -- and debt is never a good birthday present!) or super elaborate or anything, but I would like it to be something that is unique to Disney World. Looking for ideas!

I know a lot of folks order special birthday cakes at WDW, but we made our ADRs months ago and I know for a fact that she is already pining for the desserts she wants from the places we are eating that day (see below). A cake would almost certainly be less desirable in comparison (and there will only be two of us to eat it). So I'm probably looking for something non-food related.

Some info that might be useful:

  • We are staying at Wilderness Lodge.
  • We are on the Deluxe Dining Plan.
  • Our schedule that day starts at MK with breakfast at the Crystal Palace at 8:00. We'll be getting around using our car that day because we have to swing by the World of Sports to pick up our packets for the Disney 5K we're running the next morning. Then it's on to DHS. Late lunch/early dinner (3:40) at Brown Derby and then Fantasmic at 6:30. DHS closes at 8:00, at which point we'll probably head to Downtown Disney (but will play it by ear).
  • She is not a huge princess fan, but she does love Giselle (from Enchanted) and Ariel, and lately Rapunzel since they have remarkably similar hair.
  • Favorite characters include Pooh, Wall-E, Remy, Doug ("Up" in general), Bernard and Bianca.
Any help at all would be appreciated!!!

A night out at Cirque du Soleil

Not a bad idea. There's a 9:00 show and she does like Cirque (we've seen a few of the Vegas shows). On the other hand, it's pretty pricey and we already have OVO here in Atlanta right now and she's been kind of lukewarm on seeing that. But I'll keep this idea in my pocket!

Do they still do the sleigh ride at Fort Wilderness?? If so that would be a nice gift!!!

That would be awesome, actually. Only question is if they're still running them at that point. Most of the holiday-type stuff seems to cease on the 3rd. But I'll check.

EDIT: Sleigh rides end on Dec. 30. They still have the regular carriage ride, though. Not sure what the difference is.

Do the wilderness lodge carriage ride. You're right there and its inexpensive. If not there, the carriage ride at POR is always there. we have done that and loved it. Enjoy your magical vacation at WDW. we are coming in on Jan. 24th. So excited I cant stand it........:sohappy:

That's definitely the way I'm leaning. It's peaceful, romantic, and I think would be right up her alley.
