I am planning on trying a dole whip for the first time during our upcoming trip in January (i've been to the world 10 times and to be honest never heard of them before until i joined this group). I saw that they come in 3 flavors and i was wondering which one was the best? Also, does it count as a snack for the DDP? I also saw that they have root beer floats with the vanilla dole whip, has anyone tried that? My fiance LOVES root beer floats so i thought he would also enjoy a stop here.

I actually got a a pineapple/orange swirl dole whip!
It was great! Its not on the menu, but if you ask for it, they should be able to give it to you. And unless something has changed, it does count as a snack on the DDP. :wave:

It is all up to personal taste. My favorite is the pineapple float which is pineapple dole whip floating in pineapple juice. Of course I am of the opinion that the only way to make pineapple better is to add more pineapple. I have seem some do the pineapple/vanilla swirl in pineapple juice to take the edge off of it. If you just like pineapple I would start with swirl float. If you love pineapple then go full tilt and get the pineapple float.

:lol: Same here! I love the pineapple/pineapple juice combo. It's probably the most "classic" out there. The pineapple soft serve is cool, creamy and slightly sweet whereas the pineapple juice gives it a nice pineapple "tang" to it. To me, it's a perfect pairing.

As far as root beer floats, sure. They're available in a few places (Aloha Isle included.) But bear in mind, it's Barq's root beer. Barq's is a harsher root beer. I like it, don't get me wrong, but I like sweeter root beers for floats. A&W is a perfect example of a rootbeer that's perfect for floats. Barq's is ok, but to me, I'm put off by the "bite" in Barq's when done as a float. But, I'll admit, I'm a bit of a root beer junkie thanks to Love.

Another option many people don't think about is a Coke float. Coke with vanilla soft serve. They're good too.

But for a Dole Whip, if you want to try the "real" thing it's pineapple soft serve with pineapple juice. Yum!

Pineapple/pineapple for me. Corect me if I am wrong, but the only place to get the pineapple soft serve is in Disney Parks or making it at home.

same... this place is my new form of crack. I had been to the world 5 times before I turned 14 and then I had a massive layoff of 11 years! This past May was my first time back and when I came home from my trip I instantly joined WDW.

I am looking forward to enjoying my first Dole Whip! (pineapple/pineapple of course)

I think I'm nearly the only person who skips the Dole Whip and goes straight for that juicy pineapple spear. I always swipe a bite of the pineapple float from my wife, but it's not a WDW trip for me until I've had my first pineapple spear dripping down my chin. I do miss when they used to cut the rind off, but was happy to see that they gave out a knife and cup this time.

Didn't try one myself until my third trip (my last trip back in March 2009) and instantly LOVED it!!! :slurp: And the funny thing is I don't even really like pineapple. Don't eat it or drink it in any thing other than a dole whip. Weird, huh! :shrug:

thanks for all the replys, i am very excited now to try my first one during my trip in january, i think i'll be doing the pineapple float one since it seems to be the most popular and i LOVE pineapple. I'm sure my fiance will be happy to hear they don't use A&W, he is a huge root beer drinker and prefers Barqs. :slurp:
