After 4 years, Fodors still can't get it right

The new edition of WDW just came out. Nice and has color photos. Of course, for the 4th straight year, when referring to the Yacht and Beach Clubs, they mention how these lovely resorts have a pristine location on Seven Seas Lagoon.:veryconfu

From their website:

Yacht and Beach Club Resorts

* Map It Phone: 407/934-8000 Beach Club; 407/934-7000 Yacht Club

* Price range: $$$$
* Location: Epcot

Fodor's Review:

These big Seven Seas Lagoon inns seem straight out of a Cape Cod summer, if perhaps a tad institutional because of their sheer size.

Crescent Lake, Fodors! Crescent Lake.

Did you read the 2011 Birnbaum's? Filled with problems. And it's the "official" guide book...

Does the book come with colorful maps, naming the parks, the resorts, and the bodies of water by which they may be found?

I'm going to take a leap of faith here, but if Fodors has a guide for Chicago, I am willing to bet it names Lake Michigan at some point.....:lookaroun

Fodor's books are pretty bad in general, so seeing their Disney book lacking basic fact-checking isn't totally surprising.

I have it at home. I've noticed a few things here and there, like some Animal Kingdom standard rooms sleeping 5 people. That hasn't been the case for over 2 years now. I don't know who is sadder - Them for not knowing the right information, or us for knowing the right information.:lol:

So do they list Wilderness Lodge as on the 7 seas?

I picked up the new guide from the library. Pretty sure I'm the first person to check it out. So crisp and new! But, wow, it's filled with bad tips and out of date info. It recommends checking out the holiday overlay for the Country Bears! When's the last time that played?

I love how it's clear they don't proof-read so much as copy and paste their previous texts and add new info. It makes me angry when facts aren't correct. All they needed was five minutes in front of Google to give them an official map of the property. Grr.

*facepalm*:brick:

I saw a Time-Life book a few nights ago of the 100 best places to vacation in the world, with Orlando being one of them. In the small blurb about Orlando, it mentions Splash Mountain as "one of the world's best water parks." I'd love to go there someday!

Actually, this is accurate. In the Summer, when temperatures exceed 90 degrees, they open up the Briar Patch and allow guests to swim there to escape the heat. They used to allow swimming in the Rivers of America until they had the "Gator Attacks of '93"...

Just watch out for the log boats in Splash and the brain-eating bacteria in Rivers.

A couple more inaccuracies I found in Fodors 2011:

1.States that the Magic Kingdom is 142 acres. It's actually 107 acres.
2.States that the Animal Kingdom is 403 acres. It's over 500 acres.
3.When describing the Haunted Mansion, it shows a beautiful color photo of the outside. Only problem is, it's the Haunted Mansion in California.

Another note of oddity, it lists every WDW resort, yet says absolutely nothing about the Boardwalk Inn or Villas.
