Grand Floridian or Contemporary which would you choose?

Okay, DW is on now board for our next trip. She and DS will only consider two resorts this trip, either the Grand Floridian or Contemporary.

If we choose the Grand Floridian the room would be a garden view room and if we choose the Contemporary it would be a Bay Lake View room.

Excluding/disregarding cost which you you choose?

We have stayed at the Polynesian and the Wilderness Lodge in the past. We have also have toured all the other deluxe resorts, I've also stayed in some of the moderates during work/solo trips and as stated my family will only consider the Grand Floridian or the Contemporary.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Contemporary all the way! We stayed there once and we were lucky to have a stunning view of the MK. There's nothing like watching the castle changing colors all night long and seeing the lights from tomorrowland.

Contemporary! Great amenities without the stuffiniess. Great views from all rooms, newly renovated, and so much to do there. Nothing better for views of MK from the observation decks.

Contemporary or Bay Lake Tower -- Magic Kingdom view on the highest floor available.

I got almost no sleep during my BLT stay this past September because I was up every night watching the installation and testing of the castle Christmas lights... From my bed!!!

We've stayed at both, not BLT though. I would personally pick Grand Floridian because of the theme-ing, but that is a personal decision. Contemporary is like a high energy, modern apartment living feel and is of course right next to Magic Kingdom. Nice pool and restaurant, too, with maybe more kid appeal than the Floridian. GF is more of a relaxed lovely Victorian feel with English gardens, nice pools and beach and a little more secluded atmosphere. As I said both are very nice but different and it is a personal choice.

Sadly I haven't had the opportunity to stay at either, but if I was given the choice I'd pick Grand Floridian. The style and elegance of its Victorian theme has always been my favorite. Someday I'll get to stay there!

how long do they leave the lights on? for example, I'm an all day/night type.. as much as I like resorts and what not, I'm not a relaxer... so if I got home after the parks close how long would you see the Castle lit for?

My vote is for the Contemporary. CR has always screamed WDW to me. It was actually the first choice for our current trip, but it's going to have to wait until our next trip b/c WL's holiday decorations won me over. The Grand Floridian is pretty, but it's never been on the tops of my list b/c it's theme isn't original to me- i.e. it's too inspired by the Del Coronado to really feel Disney. In fact, it's that same concept/mindset that has me worried about staying at WL since that's very much inspired by the Old Faithful Inn.

If money was not an issue, I would choose the Grand Floridian, hands down. Heck, even if money WAS in issue, it can't be that much of an issue for us even to be considering those two particular resorts, so I still may choose Grand Floridian hands down. :ROFLOL:

We just find the Contemporary very dull and tacky. Just as a place to sleep and be close to the parks, and say we're at WDW, I may be willing to consider it, if I got a good enough deal, or if we booked so late that this was the only resort available, etc. But under normal circumstances, we wouldn't even consider the Contemporary at all. The GF, on the other hand, that's my wife's dream resort and she wants to stay there in 2013 for our 10 year anniversary.

Contemporary, no contest. I think the resort is beautiful, even though it is a "modern" kind of beauty. It has a feeling of really being in the middle of all the action to me, and especially since all of the rooms were redecorated a few years ago they're even better looking than when I stayed there.

The Magic Kingdom view is spectacular, though I'm sure the Bay Lake view is nice too, just different, and certainly more peaceful. If you enjoy closing down the Magic Kingdom being able to walk back to the resort and skip the huge lines is an incredible blessing.
