Why Snow White?!

Hey guys, I just wanted to ask y'all somethin'. I'm on here pretty much everyday, but this whole "Snow White Mine Car Roller Coaster" thing kind of snuck up on me. Where did it come from? I mean, and why Snow White? Walt is my hero, y'all know that, and I respect Snow White for what it is, but it's probably one of my least favorite Disney movies. There are so many great Disney films that could use an attraction, and plus we've already got a Snow White one? Why tear down one, and build another? I know that sounds hypocritical of me, because the only reason I'd want the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular removed is if Adventureland got the Indiana Jones Adventure. I don't know what the point of this post is, I just wanted to know if the rumors are just that, or actual fact? Nothing's been officially announced, right? :veryconfu

There are people on here much more informed than myself on certain expansion issues but from what I understand the mine coaster thing is an idea and allegedly part of the expansion of Fantasyland. I don't think they will take down the original Snow White ride though, nor should they because it tells the story of the movie. The minecoaster just sounds like it would be a great ride and I can only hope some really good theming. Plus why not highlight the dwarfs?

I don't think you can ever over-emphasize the impact Snow White has made on what we see today. Simply put, if Snow White bombed in the box office there would be no parks today. After Mickey, Snow White is the most important thing that happened to the Disney company

Well, like I said, I respect "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" for what it is, but looking to the other works of Disney that hasn't been given an attraction, I just think that there are better options for one.

I have a feeling that it will be a coaster/darkride. I think they are getting rid of the darkride and basically building another better darkride. Then we'll have free space for possibly another darkide where SWSA is now.

I couldn't agree more. The SWSA is a fan favorite, and there are other films that should have an attraction. Princess & The Frog, or maybe even something in the future for Tangled? Why Snow White indeed. What about Hercules? Or Hunchback or Mulan? What about them?

Mulan needs a ride. Or at least some kind of attraction. Only because its my favorite movie and I'm selfish.

I doubt Mr. Toad will be making any appearances in the park, except in the Pet Cemetery of the Haunted Mansion, and with the queue for that being re-done, he may disappear altogether.

Agreed... I don't really get why they decided to build a new Snow White ride instead of giving a non-represented movie an attraction. Or heck, an original attraction not based on characters! When's the last time MK saw one of those? I'd really like to see Marc Davis's never-built Enchanted Snow Palace.

Oh my god yes! I love Marc Davis' work! It'd be nice to see a new attraction that's not tied to a film, who knows it could spark a film the way Pirates did, and then we can all argue about it in the forums! Lol.

In all seriousness, I think it would enhance the parks to have some more "magical" but not necessarily movie-related attractions.

I don't think considered Mulan as a viable enough franchise to merit a ride.

As for "Why Snow White?" I think it's a matter of the plans were already conceived in the early stages and it appealed to a broader audience than the princesses did. This allowed them to substitute one with the other to have more of an appeal to the masses.

The expectation is that the existing Snow White's Scary Adventures will become a temporary meet and greet location, with the option existing for it to become a dark ride again in the future.

Because Snow White is Walt's first, looked at as one of the greatest movies ever made, and has withstood the test of time being over 70 years old and still a household name.

It's one of my favorite Disney films and it deserves way more than any other movie Disney has ever made in my opinion.

I love SWSA. They already have a mine train coster in Frontierland and a kiddie coaster in toontown so there's no need for this in my opinion. Why didn't they put in the rumored Beauty and the Beast dark ride is beyond me.

Beauty and the Beast is getting its own restaurant.....

And there are 2 flume rides (not counting Splash) in MK. Doesn't mean they both suck, now does it? (:

In fact, they're both (well, besides 1 ride at 1 park) at all the worldwild Disney parks around the world. Who's complaining?

I think if ANYONE deserves a ride in Magic Kingdom it is Snow White. After all.. she was the first princess and one of the most popular movies of all time. We actually in the past have wondered why they don't have more Snow White stuff at DW. The old one is tired and a new ride would be awesome. Besides.... that old one scares little kids anyway!

Honestly, a Snow White mine train ride could be pretty awesome, especially if it was a dark ride/coaster hybrid like Revenge of the Mummy at Universal.

...thats probably dreaming too big, though.

That's what Disney wants us to do, Dream Big! It's the only way to dream as far as I'm concerned.

The only qualm I have about a new Snow White ride is that there are some other Disney characters that could use a ride to allow people to be introduced to them or to help them be remembered.

Really though, I have admit honestly, I will ride whatever they put there, since Magic Kingdom is my favorite park.

At least, if not much longer than that even. Once they go in there and gut the building and rip the tracks out of the floor, its going to be a longggg time before they use that space for a ride again. They could save money by leaving the current track in place and doing a new ride around it. Instead of all this meet n greet stuff. Oh well.
