Something Big is going on at western Way/Bear Island Road

So I’m not sure what is going on, but there have recently been a lot of changes happening over by Western Way/Bear Island Road, that is definitely not related to Flamingo Crossing.

Once you pass the intersection of Bear Island road and Western Way, going west bound, you will see on your right hand side a brand new natural, landscaped construction wall. You can see behind the trees of this newly landscaped wall, a bunch of construction vehicles, lots of lights and a large temporary warehouse-like structure. The land is completely cleared and stretches very far back. My friend and I noticed this during the day and decided to return at night. You can see all the lights and active construction going on. There is so much land cleared, that was not cleared up until recently, and something is going on at a quick pace.

We drove past this several times this evening to try and get a better look. We pulled onto a service road and drove up to a security gate. To the left of that gate there was another small road that had a gate at the end of it. Walking up to that gate you can see everything. There is active construction, lots of lights, large mounds of dirt, cleared land that goes on and on, and like I said two large structures housing everything. It seemed like you could honestly put an airplane in one of these structures. I reallu can't explain to you how massive this seems. There seems to be a lot of land cleared and you can smell the dirt and new construction.

What is going on? It is obviously a huge construction project, there is no denying that. I have no inside sources but what I saw, and I can tell you this is massive. I'll be posting pictures soon, and I plan to visit the site again over the next few days.

It’s just very interesting.

Interesting

In before 5th gate rumors!

I think it is Flamingo Crossing and just putting it out there lol

Yes but bear island rd is within disney gates... flamingo crossing is outside the gates... But disney IS NOT in the spending mood so this is probably just equipment storage fort the crossings project!

you may be talking about the recycling wast center, they built that landscape construction wall so you couldn't see it from the road. maybe you are just confused? the mounds of dirt are probably for the construction of flamingo crossing or other projects needing dirt. lol here is google maps take a look for yourself. http://maps.google.com/maps?client=...orld&oe=UTF-8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wl

Yep definitely need pictures that will point to something new. Otherwise, I concur. It is the solid waste recycling facility, the smells are in effect compost, and the mounds are the same.

Oh please, they even downsize their less-than-stellar FLE and now they suddenly prepare for a fith park? I don't believe that ANY chief executice at Disney would greenlight a fith park as long as there is so much to do in the existing parks. DAK is still a half-day park, EPCOT ist still begging for more rides and in the MK additionally to the FLE TL and AL are both desperately in need of some major changes/additions. Even DHS ist still less than stellar. What sense would a fith gate make in this situation?

I'll preface this post by saying, I in no way believe there is a fifth gate coming.

Because the condition of the current parks would have little bearing on the construction of a fifth park.

As long as the numbers support that people will plunk down an extra day of admission and stay and extra day in the hotels a fifth park could get greenlighted (lit, lightum?)

MGM wasn't exactly overflowing with things to do when DAK opened. In fact, everything you just posted could apply to MK and Epcot back in 1998.

Yah, its the recycling plant..... It looks like its something more from Western Way, but if you take Bear down to Western Way you can see it clearly. No park..nothing exciting.

In 1998 worlds economy wasn't down., it is now and crisis hast just begun. We are still at the beginning of a depression that will last much longer than a simple recession. One reason why I am going to the world for 10 days in 4 weeks is because I don't know if I will be able to so in the next years. Prices for plane tickets could be skyrocking next year.

I saw this too on Sunday. It's way, way before Flamingo Crossing. It's actually about 2 or 3 miles inside the gate. And no, I don't think it's a monorial expansion or a fifth gate, but it just seems like a lot of work.

I think I know someone who has large short positions in their investment portfolio.

I'm not saying it is a good idea.

I'm just pointing out that the decision would mostly likely be made independent of any perceived need at the other theme parks.

There is nothing in DLP that is worth a trip over the Atlantic. The WDS-park is a downsized version of DHS (actually it's tiny!) with only one major attraction that you don't have in WDW, Crushs Coaster. I haven't been in Paris since the ride opened, so I cannot say if it is really that good. In the DLP itself there is not one attraction that really is worth a trip when you are from the states and have DL and WDW near you. Most rides are clones from the US-parks, the only real exception is Space Moutain. And you will see that its a different feeling there, I never really felt I was in Disneyland when I was in Paris. I will not go there again until they build something truly breathtaking unique or clones of the TDS-rides Journey to the Center of the Earth or Indiana Jones.
Oh and by the way, I don't care about the Euro. I hate it. I never wanted it (just like the majority of the Germans) and I hope it will crash after our return from the US and we will get back our Mark.

It's more of a we're die-hard disney fans so we want to see visit every resort atleast once. We need to experience it for ourselves to be able to pass judgement. Everyone around us told us that we would be disappointed with Disneyland CA since we have WDW right around the corner with so much more to do...but we were blown away by Disneyland and are also planning a return trip back out there! We look for much more beside attractions at Disney parks anyway...

And I've heard that the Germans aren't fond of the Euro. I guess the resentment is actually true! :)
