Best WDW advertisement idea ever...

I can't believe Disney didn't think of this before.

It would start with a close up of Matthew Fox (Jack from Lost) or someone who looks like him, and he would be all unshaven and such. He would look very distrought and say dramatically, "We shouldn't have left. We have to go back. We have to go back!!" Then the camera would pan out and you would see Evie (Kate, or someone like her) and she would say "I know, I know, I just booked the hotel."

And then the narrator could talk about booking a stay at a Disney resort.

This is of course a Lost reference, so if you are not familiar with the show it may not make sense.

I know lost is over, but that would still be great

Lost is VERY esoteric. Lost fans would get it but I think the mainstream would be mostly confused.

I agree. When Disney does it's advertising it looks to appeal to a very mass audience. That is why you usually see families having a great time, doing something exciting, etc. The ad prob would have worked if they showed it during lost, but outside of that timeframe it wouldn't really be great.

e.g. the Toy Story 3 ads that ran during the NBA Finals featuring "Look who's 'going for the 3.'"

I don't know, i mean, millions of people did watch the show, and that scene is pretty iconic, it might have even been in commericials, but you're right, not everyone would get it.

Yeah, but when does EVERYONE get EVERY commercial out there?

Its still a good idea for an ad, plus, sooo many people watched the show it would still bring in a lot people to Disney. :D

But wanting to go back to WDW does appeal to a mass audience, and you could still have scenes of people having fun while the narroator is talking. It wouldn't be that different from when they used the muppets.

Speaking of muppets... For some reason in my brain I always see an ad that has the song lyrics "I want to be like animal, careless and free..." while showing Animal being well, careless and free as WDW! I bet no one could do Disney the way Animal would do Disney!

I think it might get confused, as there's currently nothing LOST related at Disney Parks, why would they make an ad featuring LOST?

I think it might get confused, as there's currently nothing LOST related at Disney Parks, why would they make an ad featuring LOST?

For starters, Lost is technically a Disney property because Disney owns ABC. Also, Lost was and still is very popular, and the characters/actors from Lost are very recognizable. Also, that desire that Jack had to go back to the island can be compared to people's desire to return to WDW, which I think would be very fitting.

It would be more about relating to a emotional connection people have to WDW and their desire to be there. The Lost reference is just an additional aspect that millions of Lost fans could appreciate, or people remotely familiar with Lost.

So why would something Lost have to be in the parks for this to work?

It's all about timing. If it was run during the final season, than I say yes. But now that LOST is done, I don't think it would be as popular.

Only way would be if it aired in the Fall and at the end of the commercial it said something like 'LOST The final season now available on Blu Ray and DVD'.

I was thinking the same thing.

I look at it this way though; its been how long since the Little Mermaid came out and its going to be a new attraction? And you can think of attractions as a form of advertising by themselves, because they are meant to attract people to the parks.

Ok, here is another one:

Jack is in his doctors office when Locke rolls in. Locke says " We have to go back Jack".

Jack says "But we can't go back John."

Then Kate walks in after over hearing and says "Sure we can go back, Disney's offering a free dinning plan."

Then Locke gets that goofy smile on his face.

Then the narrator explains the deal while the losties are spinning around in the tea cups and skipping down main street with Mickey.

Hmmmmm so they could do an "Escape To Space Mountain" using the premisis of children sending through telekinesis the idea of vacationing at WDW into parents minds. ROFL I loved the witch mountain series as kid. :)
