Is Planet Hollywood that popular?

Had been planning a trip 1/4 to 1/9. I called a few different days last week as that was the 180 day mark to try to get reservations at PH. Both times they said they only res. were around 5PM. Just decided to change my dates and go 1/11 to 1/16. Called this morning about 8:30 to try to get reservations for 1/11 as today is 180 days and again they said only res. was 5PM. I had gone last Sept and had no problem getting a reservation. Are they that popular?

Weekends and evenings can get pretty crowded in there. I like to go for a lunch or early dinner during the week. They probably don't make a lot of reservations as I think most of their business is walk-up. I've never had a problem just walking up, though in 2007 we were given a 2-hour wait after La Nouba on a Saturday night, but that's expected. In fact it's one of my favorite WDW restaurants just for the fact that I can walk up without a reservation any time

I went there in 06 and the service was horrible. There was a wedding party there and two other couples. They seated us right next to the wedding party and forgot us. We asked for drinks and a menu and they told us to wait. After 20 mins of us asking for service, we got up and left. The hostess asked if we had a nice dinner and I told her what happend. Her only reply was that the servers must have been too busy to notice us. We ended up walking in to raglnd road and loved it.

I think as others have said they most likely save a lot of availability for walk-ups. They are also a popular destination for large tour and school groups and they often only operate 1/3 of their dining space. If I recall correctly they only take ADRs for dinner and take walk up only for lunch. In my opinion there are MANY other places that are much better than Planet Hollywood :hurl: so I'd just skip it altogether and choose something else. Have you tried House of Blues? The food, service and cleanliness there are immensly better than Planet Hollywood I don't know anyone who's gotten food poisoning from House of Blues which I can't say for Planet Hollywood.

I ate there a few years ago, and we just walked up. I wouldn't recommend it though, service wasn't great and the food wasn't either, and the place was overly loud, there was almost no way to have a conversation with anyone else in your party.

The last few times we've had reservations at PH and good thing because it was packed! The food is okay, I can think of better WDW dining establishments. The things I don't like about PH: 1) tables are so close together 2) I understand the whole theme, but the music was extremely louder. It was so loud I couldn't hear DH across from me.
