Quick service v. table service

I'm trying to decide if I want to use the "free" dining or upgrade to the deluxe dining plan. My question is this....we usually eat more quick service meals but this trip we are doing several character meals. If I use the dining plan with 1 quick service and 1 table service per day, would I be able to use a table service allowance at a quick service restaurant. I've chatted with a cast member online, and they say no. My sister called them today to change her reservation, and she has had two cast members tell her that quick services restaurants will accept the table service allowances. I don't want to get to a quick service register and then have them tell me that I've used up my QS allowances and can't use a TS allowance there. Has anyone used a QS at a TS without any problems?

I've about decided to pay the extra for the deluxe plan because the difference will just be $30 more than what I would end up paying for our character meals and not have any TS on my current QS dining plan.

Not sure I understand your question completely but... the standard dining plan would allow one table service and one quick service per day, without flexibility. The deluxe dining plan would allow three meals per day, and you can use them at any type of restaurant.

"Choose from select Walt Disney World Resort table-service or quick-service restaurants for all 3 of your meals."

There are 5 different Disney Dining Plans: Quick Service, Basic, Deluxe, Premium and Platinum. [Note: The word "basic" is not a Disney term, it's my term, or rather a term commonly used but is NOT a term Disney uses; officially, the "basic" plan is called the "Disney Dining Plan"].

Quick Service gives you 2 quick service meals per day, 2 snacks per day, and one refillable mug for your stay.

Basic gives you 1 quick service meal, 1 table service meal and one snack per day.

Deluxe gives you 3 meals (any variety of table service and quick service) per day, 2 snacks per day, and one refillable mug for your stay.

Premium and Platinum give you more food than you can want in a lifetime plus, I believe, a lap dance from your choice of princess .... :ROFLOL:

To answer your question, if you are on the "basic" DDP, can you use a table service credit at a counter service location? The official answer is NO, and the unofficial answer is IT DEPENDS ON THE QUICK SERVICE LOCATION'S MANAGER. Some will, most won't, you're totally depending on the whim of the manager ... in other words, you definitely can't count on it.

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they will let you convert one TS credit into two CS credits, at least I think that was the policy in the past.

During Free dining in the past they have allowed one TS credit to be used for one QS meal and a voucher for a snack or small gift. I don't think they've ever done two for one.

Thanks for the help. I was "antsy" about using up my QS and having TS left and then decide to go to a QS instead of a TS and not being able to use a TS allowance.

The only way I would advise going with the deluxe plan is if you were doing a WDW trip based around eating. The ideal way to use the deluxe plan is the obvious 3 TS meals per day or a TS breakfast, snack your way through lunch and then a signature dinner. Any other eating pattern and you are leaving money on the table with deluxe dining.

Actually Disney does use this term but they do it very inconsistently. Sometime you will see the "Basic" plan called basic, plus or as you stated simply the Disney dining plan. Disney Dining Plan does however seem to be the preferred title. It is really kind of a pain when you are dealing with clients and terminology differs on everything from emails, travel documents, to the official site.

Aside from the TS to CS question...am I correct in thinking the OP would be better off just paying out of pocket for those extra counter service meals as opposed to paying for the deluxe plan that you may or may not really take advantage of? Just a thought.

QS will take TS credits. We had DxDp with 10 character meals, using 2 TS & 1 QS per day and still saved around $250, even with "wasting" a TS credit on a QS. I don't think I'd do DxDp without doing Character meals, because I wouldn't be saving money. Others might eat better than we do and still save.

In fact duing free dining I've seen it advertised at QS locations! And usually you get a voucher for TWO snacks (although both of them have to be redeemed at the same time).
