Disney discounts and ADRs

Hello all -- the last time I was at WDW there were only 4 resorts and no ADRs, so as I'm trying to plan a trip for my wife, soon-to-be 3 year old daughter, and myself, I'm trying to get a better handle on everything that's changed.

One question I can't get past is how do I book a trip to take advantage of the promotions that Disney is offering (35% off rack rates, free meal plans, etc.) while still staying outside of the 180 day ADR window? I realize that not all restaurants require that you book your ADR at exactly 180 days out, but I'd love to get my daughter into the Cinderella's Royal Table meal at some point which I understand requires some good speed-dialing skills and a mastery of fast talking. The deals on Disney's site all run for less than 180 days into the future, so I'm at a bit of a loss.

Does anyone have some advice on how to have my cake and eat it too, or is this simply a matter of choosing what's most important? Thanks very much for any help -- and thanks for all the great info on this site. Makes for some good reading when I don't feel like getting any work done!

You usually will not find the discounts more than 6 months out. If you are booked with a non-discounted package and Disney releases a discount, you may try and have your package changed over to the discounted package. It will be subject to availability. There is never a guarantee that a discount will be released for any certain travel dates. Give Kingdom Konsultants a call (number in my sig.). We do all of the leg work for you ( get you booked, watch for discounts, make dining reservations, ect). I am currently taking a break from booking vacations, but we have some wonderful agents who will be able to answer all of your questions. We do not charge any fee's for our services.

You may still book Cinderella's Royal Table at 180 days out, even if you don't have a room reservation yet. You will not get the 180 plus 10 days into your vacation though. Cinderella's Royal Table is a pre-paid meal, so payment is due at the time of booking it, unless you are booked already on a package that has either the Plus Dining Plan, or the Deluxe Dining Plan. If you have either of those, a credit card guarantee will be required at the time of booking.

Thanks for the tips -- and I will definitely check out Kingdom Konsultants when we're ready to roll. So forgive the simple question but can I assume everyone on here who's talking about their trips booked > 6 months out are just paying at regular rack rates and hoping for the best when it comes to discounts?

To a point yes. What I have always advised my clients to do is book what you can afford at rack rates. If something comes out you can either take the savings or upgrade to something better. Some follow this advice and some will go as far as to book their dream vacation and then cancel if nothing comes out.
