Random thoughts about all things related Disney and their great parks...

  • Why is Goofy an independent, talking dog, while Pluto is reduced to the role of a captive mute?
  • Why haven't the imagineers used their knowledge and talents to develop robotic overlords in an attempt to take over the world?
  • Why has McDonald's been allowed to infiltrate the Disney parks with their bizarre concept of food?
  • Why hasn't Peter Pan been brought up on charges of child endangerment?
  • Why are there only two beds in the boy's quarters of The Swiss Family Treehouse, when there were three boys in the Disney film?
  • Why does riding a magic carpet feel exactly the same as sitting inside of a disemboweled elephant?
  • Why didn't the knife thrower in Sounds Dangerous have better aim? (If you know what I mean)
  • Why isn't Beverly served as part of an official "welcome package" to certain tour groups?
  • Why only Grad Night? Why not also GED Night?
  • Why do certain people possess the ability to travel across the country safely for a vacation, but forget how to use a simple finger scanner?
  • Why do the CM's at the France Pavilion always correct us for our pronunciation of French words, when their English is deplorably unintelligible?
  • Why don't we question the fact that Hayley Mills had a British accent in the Disney film "The Parent Trap", but her parents in the film were supposedly from Boston and California?
  • Why are the Canadian CM's forced to don winter wear in 90 degree weather?
  • Why isn't valet parking available for wealthier guests at the Tommorowland Speedway?
  • Why do tourists wear elaborate safari jackets and hats at DAK, as though they're not going home in a minivan with their kid's Cheerios spilled all over the back seat?
  • Why are people willing to wait an hour for a ride that lasts a minute or two, but they become impatient at the thought of waiting a minute and a half for their burgers at Pecos Bills?
  • Why do wives get annoyed with their husbands when they childishly point out the men that didn't wash their hands in the restroom? (Oh, wait, that's just mine.)
Just random thoughts from a cluttered mind. Don't forget that my tongue was firmly placed within my cheek.

This is great! I've found myself wondering some of the same exact things!

This has always boggled my mind! There are so many different kinds of animals... why not just make Goofy something else? Actually when I was little, I always thought Goofy was a horse... :lookaroun

You wonder if there isn't some type of canine envy going on between them. Years from now, when the memoirs hit the book shelves, it will be the equivalent of a Jan and Marsha Brady battle.

Great questions, Rsoxguy! (This year's lookin' good for the BoSox so far...I'm a die-hard fan as well :) )
I always wondered why Goofy > Pluto in the grand circle of life, and why he doesn't have a tail. I finally asked Goofy once if he was a dog. He gave me hand-signs for "sorta."

It's the same with Pete and Figaro. Both cats, but Pete can talk and scheme and chain smoke. Although Figaro does have the ability to be Minnie's and Gepetto's pet.

Sort of on the same subject, but does it bother anybody that there'a Marie walkaround in the parks? Pluto doesn't bother me since he's part of the Fab 5, and I'm willing to suspend disbelief with that, but for some reason Marie always seems a little odd. Why not do a Simba walkaround while they're at it?

Nice list rsoxguy!! Some I have wondered about - like the first one! Others are new, and will boggle my mind. :)

I remember back when Tink was not a meet & greet character. I asked once why she wasn't, and was told that Tink was supposed to only be pixie sized, so she couldn't be full grown and walk around the park. That made sense until I thought....what about Jiminy Cricket? What about Chip & Dale? They are all tiny but become life sized in the parks.

Wow. That one went STRAIGHT over my head. Though it was much more fun picturing you disemboweling elephants in Africa and then hopping on your flying carpet.

Ha! Maybe one day I will. :drevil:

To the original poster; what ARE you, a wise guy or a truck driver. :ROFLOL:

Neither. I'm just a dork.

Shhh. It's bad luck to speak of such things in RedSoxville before the 3rd quarter of the season.

Why do all or almost all Disney films kill off the mother?

How could Goofy have a child (Max) but doesn't have a wife/girlfriend?

Walt Disney1955

The smearing of Walt's good name has always puzzled me. Everything from the rumours about Snow White and the names of the dwarves (derived from the 7 steps of cocaine addiction) to his anti-semitism, or the sudden fault that he was a workaholic and sleeping in a room at Disneyland.

Here's the thing. We all know Walt saw Snow White as a play when he was a young boy and then turned it into a movie. This debunks the idea that Snow White was a metaphor for cocaine.

Secondly, on the surface it might look bad that Walt had spent nights at DL back in the day, but is it any different than a business man going on long trips? I have never thought that this made Walt a bad husband. Look at all we have because of him, we should be thankful he worked so hard and is an inspiration of what this country should be about.

Lastly, the anti-semitism might be caused by who Walt was associated with back in the day. It doens't necessarily hit the core of his true feelings. It is worth noting that Main Street USA does not have a church in MK or DL (not a big deal really). I've barely ever heard a whimper that Walt was anti-Christian since there is no evidence of that, likely the contrary if anything. So to me it shows me that Walt wanted to build a park for everyone to enjoy regardless of who you are. To me his parks are a reflection of the kind of man he was at his core, nothing anti-semite about that
