Just a head's up: it looks like Dueling Dragons will be closing later this week. As they don't post refurb schedules online, it's hard to say when it will re-open as Dragon Challenge, but Dragons as we know it will end in the next few days. Side Note: The Queue has been closed for a while now.

From a pretty reliable source...but you didn't hear it from me.

It's not hard to see that with dragons being down to one lane for a chunk of it's temp queue and exit they wont be open for much longer... Now when it will reopen as dragons challange, who knows.

The park actually does post refurbs online but you have to click the individual attractions to see them.

This will be an exception to any notice because doing so would give an opening date to the Wizarding World. It will not reopen until The Wizarding World will.

I'm bummed that this ride is getting a new queue. That was actually one of my favorite Queues anywhere. Universal would re-theme one of its best themed attractions.

Well It's location was the cause of it. Because of where they had to build Harry Potter, Dragons got tied up in the middle. But it will all work out for the better. And I think ET has a better queue. and Mummy. But that's just me.

DD was the best or second best (to Spider Man if you look pre Express when everyone went through the entire queue) that UO has ever done IMO. Changing this attraction around really stinks. I loved that queue and theme.

Hopefully it will be worth it like you say. I know jack squat about Harry Potter, but if I hear great things about the new attraction, I might have to spend a day at UO this summer to see that and Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit.

I heard a rumor of a black dragon and a white dragon--can you confirm?

It was quite interesting in Dec 2009 to walk through that temp platform and through the exit into the ride launch area. It was weird not walking in the entrance and stepping all over the bones and twists and turns to get into the launch area.

Anticipating what the new entrance and walk-through will look like.

Not too sure of the new colors of the dragons, but one is the Hungarian Horntail. The other one might be the Chinese Fireball.

Here's a WIKI-type of source for the dragons in Harry Potter.

http://pictures.linkmesh.com/dragons/harry_potter_dragons.php

The Hungarian Horntail is most dangerous of all the dragons. Its body is covered by black grudges and its aspect is similar to the one of a lizard. Their eyes are yellow and have bronze horns. Its fire breath can reach 5 feet. This dragon feeds on great mammals; it likes to devour goats. In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry has to vanquish a Hungarian Horntail dragon in order to succeed in the Triwizard Match.

Chinese Fireball, also known like Liondragon, is the only Eastern dragon. With scarlet color and smooth grudges, it has golden points around its face and protuberances around the eyes. It weights between two and four tons. Their eggs are golden, and their rinds are considered for the use of Chinese wizards. Chinese Fireball is a wild species, although tolerant to other creatures and persons.

I just realized what a HP geek I am...as I looked at the pics and thought...OOH! Hungarian Horntail and Chinese Fireball!

But I too will miss the old DD queue. I would entice everbody I knew...and even strangers to go through it, and then we would all exit before the ride! (don't much like the dangling coasters)

I like to think that no matter what they do to it, it will still have an awesome story/theme!

I hope you are right about it working out. I agree with you that ET has a good queue but DD was just so awesome. I hope they leave some parts, like the big knight's table room.
