Hello all, we just moved our trip up to April 21st to 27th due to my HS reuinion now being during our original dates in early May. I now see there is some cheerleading championship that weekend in the middle of our trip. How busy do the parks get that weekend? I'm wondering if we should move our trip up again to avoid it. We'll be traveling with our 5 year old on his 3rd trip and our 18th month old on his 1st so we were looking to avoid big crowds and lines.

Thanks!

We were in WDW last year during the same competition (Cheering and Dance Worlds). We started noticing the teams in the parks on Friday, and some were still around into early the following week. Most were gone by Tuesday. Most of their competitions were at Epcot and Studios. We didn't find them to be disruptive in the parks at all. Although I must add that we stayed at AKL and did not see any cheer or dance teams there, so we didn't have to deal with them at the resort or on the buses. If you are staying at a value or a moderate where the teams stay, you could have issues with noise and crowded food courts.

Looks like it's also Grad Nites on 24th & 25th at the Studios. Is that an after park hours deal and will that make it busy as well? I guess as long as we avoid the Studios I assume we'll be ok.

We're staying at Port Orleans Riverside. I realize it's a Moderate and a big resort but I'm starting to get worried now.

For the most part you should be fine. While you may see some cheer groups at PORS they will not be in mass like they will be at the values, in particular All Star Sports. Grad night will not make the park any busier but it can shorten it's hours.

Just to give you a heads-up, Grad Nites has moved back to Magic Kingdom this year. http://disneyyouthgroups.disney.go.com/wdyp/programs/programOverview?page=GNProgramOverviewPage

Thanks for the heads up. I thought I read it was going to be at the Studios but I guess that was last year. I was wondering why the MK closed at 7 PM those nights. We're planning to avoid MK those days anyway and spend Sunday evening at dinner during fireworks and spend some time just the wife and I at EMH in MK. So I guess it will still work out.

Hi! we were there during this weekend last year too. On the days we went to Epcot and Studios we noticed that the crowds were slightly larger, more noticable at the studios during the day. I recall it was really busy at the studios turnstyles around 8.45 (with lots of the teams trying to get into the park) . So if you like to be there for opening, you may want to allow a little extra time. I suspect if there was a showing of Fantasmic that night it would have been packed out really early on.

However we did definatley notice a difference in the evening at Epcot (i can't remember which night) but it was really crowded around World Showcase. I guess everyone was grabbing dinner there.

Overall none of the teams were rude and they seemed well behaved, just a lot of chanting going on! On that note, you should be glad you are not staying at the Pop Century! :hammer:

My advice? allow time in the mornings at the turnstyle, try to avoid Epcot or the studios in the evening and keep your reservations at the PORS. Hope that helps.

I just returned from the world late last night. Last weekend was a Dance thing and this weekend was a Cheerleading event. The Dance teams where a lot better then the cheerleaders. The Cheerleaders would not stop cheering, talking etc on Soaring. It ruined our visit to EPCOT Friday night. Plus yesterday was a mad house at DHS. To the point that cast members had to minimize the amount of people in the bathrooms at times. All in all it wasn't that bad but if someone could tell me where I can find a calender that tells me what type of event is going on like Pop Warrner, Cheerleading, and Dance that would be great.
