Disney Rewards Visa Card question

I have the Disney Visa from Chase. On the site is says that you can get 10% discounts on merchandise of $50 or more at select locations throughout WDW and just to show your card and mention the offer.

Does anybody know what locations that is good for?

Also do you need to use the visa or just show it and then you can pay cash?

Thanks!

Only place we've gotten the discount is World of Disney, and YES, you have to use the card for payment. Other locations may be available; check out the Disney Rewards website.

You can get the discount at most if not all retail stores. We did in November and you do need to put the purchase on the Visa.

I used it at the World of Disney in DTD, and no I did not have to use the card, just show it to them. My Mom was paying for the stuff we were getting and the lady asked if we had Disney Visa and it made me remember that i had one, so i got it out and showed it to her...I didn't have to use the card for the purchase.

I've used it all over the parks & at Downtown Disney. You do need to let them know beforehand that you will be using your Disney Visa. Don't forget that at Innoventions in Epcot you can have a character meet & greet and get a free 5 x 7 photo! You must present your visa and you can pick up your free photo in about an hour at the camera shop right beside spaceship earth!

Technically you do have to use the card to get the discount but it's a matter of them pressing a button and giving it to you anyway, but they could get into trouble as there is no verification the person has a Disney Visa. I wouldn't expect a Castmember to do that to allow me to pay cash. The brochure and website indicate to get the discount, purchases must be paid for with the card. I think this person just got lucky.

The card policy has changed, and I think that's why this is confusing. I have been a card member for many years, and I just noticed the changes.

I used to only ever get the discount at the World of Disney store in DTD. You didn't have to use the card to pay, you only had to show it. I did this many times, and it was the old policy.

Now, the rules say that you must use a Disney Credit or Debit or rewards card to pay. It also says you can get the discount at disneystore.com and at any Disney Store. I don't know when this changed. They might still let you get the discount without using the card, I don't know how new or strict this policy is. Here's a link you might find helpful. The restrictions on page 2 lay things out for you:

My wife and I have had the card for almost 4 years. We used it for the private meet and greet at Epcot which was awsome! I've used the points we built up to pay for my DVC annual dues, my kids pass's and now this year annual pass's for my whole family. The best thing about the card to me would be the meet and greet, my kids about passed out (Me too!). To get the chance to have Mickey, Minnie and Goofy all to your self was awsome and the pic.

I guess the policy has changed. I'm just letting you know I used it several times to get my discount in the past and didn't have to use the card. I don't think I "just got lucky", my policy never stated you had to use the card to get the discount either, b/c i researched it.

I was surprized last year when the cm at WOD told me that I had to use my card for the purchase. My limit isnt very high on the card which I like because I could pay it off quickly. However I was worried becuase I had also used that card for my room key purchases and I didnt want to go over.
So this year Im going to remember to walk out of the room with all my disney visa cards (shhh dont tell anyone but I have 4:lol:) when I go to DTD. I usually only walk with all of them when I go to Epcot (4 free pics :animwink:).

But they really need to reconsider the policy, Because what if your room key is linked to your disney visa, Maybe they should put a sticker on your KTTW card saying your a disney visa cardholder.

Exactly. I was thinking that when I went last month. The purpose of tying your credit card to your room key is to not have to worry about carrying credit cards...I agree therer should be something.
